Women you mightn't get along with, but you'd ride anyway

And it’ll kick off from tomorrow night as the Christmas season sets in proper

Plenty wake up and check their car for bumps and scrapes, that’s if it’s there.

I’d say if you’d 3 pints you’d get a taxi but if you’d 8 “you’d chance it”. Unfortunately that’s the way the brain works with alcohol.

I drove once with a good few pints on me. I drove in the town at home with the intention of leaving the car and getting the one taxi in the town home.

No answer from the taxi. I decided to drive home, I shouldn’t have and I have never done it since.

If anyone tells you that you can drink and drive - that’s bullshit. It’s ok on a straight road but if you had to react to something - no chance.

Most lads are only worried about getting bagged and if you’re over, you’re over.

They don’t consider the fact that they might kill someone

Chances of being bagged are infinitesimal. I’m driving decades and have been bagged once. Six o clock on a bank holiday Friday on Amiens St. I hadn’t had a drink in 8 months so I was relaxed enough. It’s no deterrent.

Bagged once too. Cork. About 7 in the evening. Dropped a lad I worked with home. Covered some amount of ground since and never seen them

I’m shocked they were still serving Thomas booze in the pub after all she’d already knocked back that day.

I think it’s a fairly big deterrent tbh.

34 years driving in all sorts, 1million Kms going by my cars and never been bagged.

I’ve a few years and a few KMs less than that but I’ve never been bagged in Ireland.

Never been bagged once but I’d very rarely drive at night

Never bagged in Ireland, never even had to show my drivers license. Drove in Australia for probably 5 years and was bagged twice and had to show my licence a number of times.

I’ve never been bagged either. I spent years driving from Dublin, Galway, Cork, etc. late night and driving around cities. Still would drive around Dublin City 7 or 8 times a year at night.

Was coming back from Galway to Limerick around 2am one random Thursday night/morning and the lad driving was bagged (hadn’t dragged) at around Ardrahan years ago. I’d say all that was passing that road at that time were trucks :man_shrugging:

There was a bit of a thing of bagging people on a Sunday morning a few years back. I know a fella done for it coming home from a wedding. My brother was stopped coming home from a stag in Kilkenny on a Sunday morning 5 or 6 years ago. He’d been drinking all day Saturday until 4am and this was around 11am. He passed much to his relief and amazement

Do you drive? Just wondering as you mainly reference public transport in terms of getting around.

No

I’ve only ever driven bumper cars

I collected the daughter in Portlaoise last Friday evening, coming off the motorway at Tyrellspass there was a car in front of us, 15 mins into Mullingar from there, crawling decent road into town from there it was doing no more than 70km on a 100km limit, breaking the line constantly and when oncoming traffic was coming was slowing down to between 40/50, after about 2 minutes I had enough told the daughter to ring the :policeman: in town, she described what was going on., within 5 minutes lights flashing passed us did a Huey and had the cant, he was pissed or high, definitely one or the other.

Never bagged in Ireland. Been bagged a couple of times here. They like the morning random tests but haven’t seen many since Covid year.
