My kids if you’d call them that are 26 and almost 21, we’ve preached at them the last 2 years since things were back normal about the sneachta, I’m 50 next year and was never into weed which was the go to back in our day but that stuff is lethal, I’d crawl over naked women back in the day for a pint but that was it for me, it’s a huge worry these days.

Its actually one of the side effects of drink being so expensive. If pints were cheaper than a good few wouldnt bother. We need a tax cut on drink

Excuse my naivety but is it cheaper to buy coke than drink?
I don’t partake but it’s probably about the same price of a normal night out but obviously can be dearer with those lads who do all nighters compared to Joe soap who generally hits the wall at 1/2 am.
Like drink, the more you take, the more you need on the next occasion to get the same buzz. Good few lads get caught down a rabbit hole of owing thousands.
Younger people go out less often now, when they do they spend big on it then.

Living and working in a monastery built for one has its advantages. When i was running about coke was for loyalists and lawyers, thankfully i rarely encountered it…great fun when i did though- i remember falling in with this outrageously se…ah never mind…

Well, the least you’ll pay probably for a bag of coke is 100 quid. Then you’ve got the price of what you’d normally drink on top, and then the extra of what the cocaine enables you to drink, that you normally wouldn’t be able to handle without falling over. Then, it keeps you awake and lowers inhibitions, which can cost you money in other ways. It, like almost all drugs has a tolerance level. At the height of my using, it wasn’t unusual for me on a Saturday to share a 28 gram bag relatively evenly with a friend which would last us between 12-24hrs. Current averages for a gram price in Ireland is approx 70 euro I think.

As enda said i dont touch the stuff but ive spent well over a hundred on pints while lads might spend 80 to hundred for some. No hangover, more alert etc.
I’m a lad that ignores the drug hijinx in the cubicles and politely declines, but appreciates, the rare offer to partake in the personal. Last night will reverberate around the departmental hemisphere for days to come. Graduates almost overdosing, leading gender empowerment representatives dropping a bag of gorse in front of programme directors and finally some stupid cunt laughing at yours truly for ordering a pint of Harp.
The country is fucked.
