World Cup 2022 Qualifiers

The cold weather constraint is a new one

Have Luxembourg converted/nationalized a few players? Thought I read on here that someone said they were improving.

Not sure but I’d be shocked if they were capable of taking points off Portugal or Serbia.

Fucking Greeks

So basically a mini league between Portugal and Serbia and ourselves.

Kosovo probably the trickiest of the worst teams.

We drew home and away with Portugal in 2002 qualifying. Obviously drew in Serbia and lost narrowly to them at home in 2018 qualifying (actually should have beaten them).

Not that I’m aware of. Pjanic was more or less raised here though. His family were refugees from the Balkan mess.

Ireland game will not be a sellout but they could sell the Portugal game 5 times over, handily.

Azerbaijan. Chance for a neutral venue

More than decent draw happy with that, second place well up for grabs there.

Not a great draw for us in reality. Serbia won’t drop points against the cannon fodder. Basically comes down to those games home and away to Serbia for us to qualify.

Full list of constraints here

Fai will have some job trying to sell tickets to see a mediocre Ireland team play Serbia, Luxembourg and Azerbaijania

Every chance Serbia implode will a few red cards

That bates it all. Apparently we want strong 4th seeds in our group.

In all my years watching draws, I’ve never realised we were doing it wrong.

They are flaky as fuck.

In a 5 team group I presume only the winners automatically qualify too?

I’d go and watch Wexford Youths play a live game at this stage.

Only the winners automatically qualify in every group.

The Portuguese are doing jigs after that.
