World cup destroying the GGA in the TV ratings war

Bullshit.

You know that it is what it is.

Flano cleaning house.

This thread should be bumped every 4 years. The gga tv ratings pitiful compared to the world cup.

A worldwide event attracts more viewers than an amateur hobby. Where’s the surprise in this mate?

No surprise to me mate

It’s a surprise to the gahliban on here though

Quelle surprise

No surprise really. A majority in this country subconsciously identify as British. What self respecting Irish person refers to an English team as “we”. There has been an indoctrination into a west brit idealogy over the last while. A cohort of people can identify part of themselves in the cast of love island and admire and fawn at royal weddings. A lot of it is to do with popular culture, proliferation of british soaps, marketing, sky sports etc. GAA is now perceived as been part of old Ireland and seems to be perpetually under attack by the media. Shur you cant even request a seat in VIP section of a ground in Kildare to breast feed your offspring anymore for crying out loud.

I think what you meant to say was that those people you speak of aren’t paranoid about England, don’t have an inferiority complex about it, and don’t define ourselves in opposition to it - well, maybe to the bits we don’t like, to the bits that conform to the negative stereotypes that were bred into most Irish people and which no doubt exist, but England can’t and never will be defined by those, because England is many things - it’s a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma - it’s full of contradictions and full of contrasts, and that’s why it’s so fascinating.

But people like yourself who have a paranoid inferiority complex about England are the people who are by far the most obsessed with it, and that’s not a healthy place to be in.

When England make the world cup final in predicting the biggest ever tv audience

What are the telly ratings for the GGA’s direct competitor, the Telecom Éireann League (or whatever it’s called these days)

League of Ireland trumps the club championship mate
