Good game, pity about the dreadful refereeing decision. Not giving something obvious can be frustrating. Giving something when there was no foul is unacceptable.
Oscar was superb and Neymar was very good for Brazil too. But they were poor in midfield and looked shaky at the back. Croatia showed that the template to beat them is to get their full backs on the back foot and whip in crosses when the centre backs have been dragged out.
@Bandage, I felt the Croatian goalkeeper should have saved the penalty once he got two hands to it. Be interesting to get a goalkeeper’s POV, can you ask @Rintintin what he thought if you are talking to him?
That’s as bad as Brazil will play in the WC and they still beat a very solid Croatian side, have a feeling they just didn’t respect the Croats enough and when faced with the bigger teams like Spain,Germany or Argentina expect a different animal! that Confed final last year shows what they are really capable of,when was the last time Brazil were beaten in a competitive game at home?
As part of the TFK goalkeeping union, yes, given that he got both hands to it he should have had strong enough hands to save it. Side on view is not flattering to him at all.
I second this opinion thus confirming the official stance of the TFK Goalkeepers Union in accordance with the rules and bye laws which govern the TFK Goalkeepers Union.
Apparently the ITV panel last night said:
It was a definite penalty as a defender can’t put his hands on an attacker in the box.
It was correct to disallow the goal as like it or not it is a FIFA rule that the goalkeeper cannot be challenged.
Brazil won it comfortably in the end.
I don’t recall them saying it was a penalty. Lee Dixon said the opposite I think.
Cannavaro did say that there is a FIFA rule that you can’t challenge the keeper in the 6 yard box. I was unaware of that rule.
???
why do you think they are capable of better?, its very much a a one man show
Plus one.
Brazil look like quite one dimensional and their gameplan of overwhelming the opposition with the intensity of their play is bound to come unstuck at some stage.
great post.
I cant wait for it and i backed Holland at 17/4
Holland are capable of anything, yes on paper the defense is rubbish, the likes of RVP are coming off a crap season, Snijjder is anonymous (apart from announcing he was “fit” last week), there is the usual fighting in training apparently with Robben and some young lad the other night. I still think that if they get it together attacking wise and you have De Jong in the middle assaulting people left right and center then this is a very nasty opponent. Van Gaal said the other night, we almost won the last WC but there were at least 10 better, Van Gaal loves RVP and i think he will get them to play, the lad from Roma , Strootman is a loss no doubt in the middle.
Spain, well i need to see the team, these guys are on the road a long time now and i think this is one trip too far.
The Dutch to win and Spain to home after 3 games is how i see this
Holy Father Bergoglio this morning advising football fans to enjoy the World Cup in a spirit of brotherhood. I trust the Archbishop of Canterbury will in turn address the nation ahead of the real kickoff tomorrow night.
4/1 looks a big price for the dutch…like mickee, the mainland Europe train window licker, said you could get anything with the dutch…Van Gal will have them fired up…Spanish usually start slow…Holland are 10/1 WDW & both to score market
