World darts championships 2017

Poor Deta.

Thrilled as I am for Casey, who played magnificently, it was horrible to see the world number one’s demons overcome her yet again on that famous Lakeside stage.

Tremendous class and dignity from Deta to come up to the balcony with Casey to talk to Rob Walker.

I hope we’ll be seeing her giving her expert analysis of the ladies’ championship for the rest of the week.

Some fat bird has just been proposed to at The Lakeside!

Denise said “YES”.

She’s so excited and Russell is delighted.

Wonderful scenes. It just adds to the feel good, family atmosphere at the Lakeside.

The supporters in the dartboard hats who witnessed Russell’s proposal in the car park looked genuinely delighted for them too.

If Russell had attempted that at the Alexandra Palace himself and Denise would have ended up with a jug of lager poured over their heads by some drunk, smart casual attired office boy.

Wow. Ratajski has comfortably taken the first two sets here.

Wesley looks to be in harms way here

This is a potentially massive result for Polish darts and Polish sport.

Massive leg here

Harms gets polaxed

Well deserved victory for Ratajski.

Wesley Harms is absolutely devastated.

Congratulations @balbec.

A great win for Kyzrsztof.

The greatest day in the history of Polish darts.

He has two Zs in his christian name and I think his nickname should be ZZ Tops.

Whatever else he does in this tournament, he can call himself the Eliminator of Wesley Harms.

James “Hillbilly” Hurrell has won the first set against Mark McGeeney. The latter missed two darts for it in the fifth leg before Hurrell stepped in and took it.

Quality 102 check out for McGeeney with Hurrell waiting on a double. That’s a break in the first leg of the fourth set and he’s completely turned things around here. He’s now leading 2-1 in sets having had an 11-darter to seal the third set.

Hurrell takes us into a deciding leg in set four. “Good darts”, says McGeeney to him as he walked back after throwing the winning double.

McGeeney wins after an exchange of mixed doubles.

McGeeney pointing upwards to Pat Lampard and God here.
