World darts championships 2017

Doggy misses three darts at doubles and Jeff cleans up double 16.

1-0 to The Silencer, against throw.

Jeff one leg away. 2-0 up.

Oh yes. Jeff ruthlessly finishes 118 to win the match!

That was a very streaky match.

Jeff looked in complete control having won four of the first five legs, but then Doggy started channelling Raymond van Barneveld at his mid 00s peak and won six legs in a row, and Jeff looked in real trouble.

But then the Silencer, as @Nembo_Kid said earlier, moved through the gears to win six of the last seven legs to take the match.

He’s a tremendous match player and thrives when the pressure is on.

Wolfie v The Silencer in Round 2 is going to be BOX OFFICE.

Wolfie will be out for revenge after Jeff whitewashed in the first round last year.

A mouthwatering prospect.

Jeff very hoarse here in his post-match interview. Let’s hope he gets a few Lemsips down him.

Jeff is so far removed from the burning inferno around him on stage.

My two favourite dart players in action next, I hope the winner takes it all.

Richard Veenstra has beaten Scotland captain Ross Montgomery 3-1.

A bit like when Samson was shorn of his strength without his long hair, Ross lacked something without his famous wart, I feel.

Richard Veenstra v Danny Noppert in Round 2 is going to be a hell of tie.

Richard, like Jeff Smith, is a really cool customer when it comes to finishing.

Round 2 is shaping up beautifully, with Wolfie v The Silencer and Scotty Dog v Geert De Vos also stand out ties in any world championship.

Casey Gallagher will surely look to get a job done on her teeth if she can progress to the latter stages here.

Deta Hedman dances her way on stage here. A bit of grinding with Little Richard and the referee (Scottish chap whose name escapes me) and we’re ready to go now. Casey is actually her protege - she was sponsored by Deta and her partner Paul as she was emerging through the ranks.

Casey is averaging over 100 here.

A breath away from a 9-darter there.

Class 114 finish from The Dark Destroyer there.

Trivia: Deta Hedman is a cousin of former Celtic goalkeeper Magnus.

Deta with a 2-dart 88 finish to win the decisive fifth leg of the first set.

A cracking match at The Lakeside.

Deta misses 5 match darts and Casey steps in to force a second set deciding leg.

A 117 check out by Casey to win the set!

Incredible scenes in Frimley Green.

That finish by Casey pissed all over anything produced in the pdc tournament at the Alexandra Palace.

Deta’s Lakeside demons are kicking in again here, I fear.

Casey smells blood.

Casey leads 2-0 in the decider after Deta missed D18 and D9.

Casey opens up with 123 and 180.

There’s a new poster girl of darts. Casey Gallagher wins.
