Great documentary, the Abyss, on the rise and fall of nazis on rte player. Edit: may have mentioned it already. Just finished it this evening anyway.

Local lads father was involved in planning that escape…forced to march east afterwards, a nawful carry on. He died just a few months ago.
I’d be yarning to the son at swatragh mart now and again…about killing dockens, the futility of life/femcing, how you should never ever take your boots off because your feet would swell up and the frostbite would kill you etc. It always struck me as a bit far-fetched, until he showed me the obituaries in the English broadsheets

I’d to have been a paratrooper in world war 2. There’s some serious camaraderie on display.

The Bomber Mafia by Malcolm Gladwell is very informative and worth a read/listen if interested in that period of history
