She was an utter calamity of a defence minister. German soldiers turned up at nato exercises without a rifle to their name- she bought a hape of broomsticks, painted them black and pretended they were uzis*. She also insisted on maternity combat uniforms for pregnant people. It was widely reported that she even wanted tanks adapted to accommodate pregnant people, but it was felt this would be asking for trouble.
