You want a city / large urban centre near by so that only leaves Limerick, Cork, Dublin, Derry, Antrim and Waterford.
Am I right in saying that Leix is the only county that doesn’t border a county that touches the sea ??
They’ve never seen the ocean.
If we can stay within 20kms of my house, I’m happy enough here. Would still reach Waterford airport and city, so sorted.
But if I cant vote for my home county, I’d say Cork. But only on the condition that I wouldnt have to interact with the people there.
Worst place, somewhere inland. They all merge as one. I’ll say Offaly, as at least Portlaoise has a bit more about it than Tullamore.
Cork and galway the only two real options here, maybe kerry if you prioritize the great outdoors. You’re settling for the truly mediocre otherwise.

Nearly every county on the coast has something to offer… If they folded over the map of Ireland til louth met Leitrim and wicklow met limerick I think all those counties in between wouldn’t be missed. Do wonders for the live register too…
I’ve never been to Donegal but it’s meant to be the most scenic county of all

I was keeping donegal… Lovely and wild… Exactly what you want… So big and remote and not invaded by tourists…
Best: Donegal/Sligo
Worst: Roscommon/Cavan
The did the Atlantic route from Sligo to Portrush there few years back and it’s the best I’ve seen on this island.

Worst: Tyrone/Armagh
It’s only a 10-20 minute drive to get from Derry City into Donegal.
Sligo is a fabulous county . Granted the town is a bit rough .
