Wrongs perpetrated by the British Army (the original title was buggering me)

In another thread today, I mentioned that time the English horsey trainer John Upson said that the void 1993 Grand National was “like something that would happen in a backward little country like Ireland”, and claimed he was actually aiming his barb at the English, because he was playing on the ignorant English stereotype of Ireland as being “a backward little country”, when in fact the English themselves had just demonstrated gross incompetence due to the lack of organisation of the Grand National - thus demonstrating the irony and the ignorance of the stereotype.

And that his barb had been delivered very badly due to his state of high anger, and had come across as saying something it didn’t mean to say.

You could see his point.

Karen Bradley’s “point” here is that that she calmly stood up in the House of Commons and said that any massacres perpetrated by British state forces were not crimes.

There was no room for misunderstanding in what she said, and no question of what she said, and meant, being misunderstood.

But now she tells us that she in fact meant to say the exact opposite of what she very clearly said, and clearly meant.

This is a government minister, one of whose specific tasks is to convey information to the public.

You couldn’t make it up.

Where’s this?

Carlos Roa, Argentina keeper who saved penalties from Ince and Batty in the 1998 World Cup famously refused to sign a new two year contract at his then club as he believed the world would end in 1999.

‘The language was wrong’.

It sure was. What she really is saying there is that she regrets being so direct in her language but she still retains her belief that State sponsored murder is not a crime.

Right here, bud.

You defended the Tories’ decision to try and pass Britain’s own security problem onto a third country which has nothing to do with the case - and which also just happens to be a former colony, which is also a Muslim majority country.

And you denied that racist colonial arrogance had anything to do with it. When it had everything to do with it.

In fairness sid, you’re interpretations are clouded by bias, petulance and stupidity.
No offence.

Licence to kill 007 covers this.

They’re not interpretations, they’re plain observations about stupid stuff you said. Live with it and move on.

In fairness, you’re coming across like Karen Bradley here.

Thanks glas. You’re guidance is invaluable.

Just shut it and get on with it.

Sid’s discovered his inner chuckie and you’ve discovered your inner sid. It’s fascinating to watch.

You’re like an inner ear infection. Persistent and irritating.

Lovely. One reformed West Briton who would disenfranchise Northern voters and another lad who falls into partitionist pseudo gael mindset at the first sign of being rattled.

They’re the same bloke
