WWE \'No Mercy\'

I didn’t get to see No Mercy live on Sunday night but I bought it in on ppv (it’s repeated on sky box office for the full week) and got around to watching it last night. Yet again the event was totally and utterly off the hook, off the chain. The wwe title was won and lost on 3 separate occasions throughout the night with the final match between the legend killer, Randy Orton, and the cerebral assassin, Triple H, already going down as an instant classic.

However, my favourite moment of the night (other than the outfit Candice Michelle was wearing for her unsuccessful women’s title defence) was JBL’s commentary during the fight between our national hero, Finlay, and Rey Mysterio. Finlay got a bang on the head and pretended to be unconscious. The medics were called out and they carefully put him in a neck-brace and placed him on a stretcher. Rey was distraught having thought he’d seriously injured a fellow competitor but then when his back was turned, Finlay leapt off the stretcher and clobbered him from behind. Then he battered the fook out of him for a few minutes before strolling off contentedly.

The other commentator, Michael Cole, was disgusted and branded Finaly a despicable human being. Then JBL piped in with, ‘Of course he’s a despicable human being, Michael - he’s Irish. He grew up in a war zone. He grew up with car bombs going off all around him. What do you expect?’. Then Cole warned JBL that he might have offended the Irish fans who form a large part of the worldwide wwe audience and JBL replied, ‘The Irish know I have great respect for them - from Belfast to Shannon, up to Ashford Castle and then the K Club, the best golf course in Ireland. Plus I want to give a shout out to one of my best friends, Sean Thornton in Inishfree.’

JBL = Legend.

I happened to see a bit of this myself, you get PPV events free on the box :angry:

Firstly, I think WWE may be watchable now Cena is gone for a while. Secondly, The Shite Khali shot be shot or rather Vince should be for having this lump in a ring.

DIdnt hear that Bradshaw thing but thats brilliant stuff altogether.

The ratings slumped on Monday Night. With Cena gone the kids and women wont watch as much. The gay appeal of Randy Orton is not enough to keep the interest going. I got Royal Rumble 99/00 and Survivor Series 97/98 tagged classics this morning. Great days. 10 times better than today.

With Hbk returning on Raw I hope that he turns on Hunter. Would give the rivalry a new slant.
