Eve Muirhead was only a young pup four years ago but I’m hoping she’s matured into one of the world’s leading skips by now.

Incredible scenes. Jenny Jones has done it for Team GB. 33 years old. First GB medal ever on snow. Learned on artificial slopes.
A lot of cynicism around sports but this seems like old school Olympian competing for the joy of the sport.

I still count Alain Baxter’s bronze in the slalom in 2002.
Did Martin and graham bell never win one? Always good for a guess at the question of sport picture round along with Alberto tomba and permin zubriggen.
The Bell brothers were wonderful stalwarts of our domestic ski scene for many years, but let’s face it, they were shit.

Seamus was spotted wavin to his family in the crowd after his performance.

That Russian one isn’t a patch on Eve, neither in looks or in sporting prowess.
The Team GB Ladies skip made up for yesterday’s opening day 6-4 defeat to Sweden by thrashing the USA 12-3 - equalling the Olympic record margin, and creating a new Olympic record by scoring seven shots in one end.
And more good news for our curlers as Dave Murdoch and the boys recorded a famous 7-6 win over the Krauts.
One victory over the old enemy already, and when Eve gets her hands on Gerry, they’ll be massacred like at Kursk. And then she’ll sink the Russians like the Kursk.
Sweden sent out a statement of intent by defeating the Czech Rep 4-2 in the opening game of the ice hockey tournament. Ottawa Senators defenseman Erik Karlsson was the star finding the net twice as the Swedes jumped out to a 4-0 lead.
Jaromir Jagr lead the Czech fightback in the third period, but in truth they were outclassed and look set for a battle with the Swiss for the second qualifying spot.
A lacklustre Switzerland defeated no-hopers Latvia 1-0 with Nashville Predators winger Simon Moser slamming in the winner with just 8 seconds left on the clock.
Finland have just defeated Austria 8-4, but their captain Teemu Selanne left the game in the first period with a neck injury and didn’t return. It will a huge loss to the Finns if he is to miss any time. NY Islanders winger Michael Grabner bagged a hat trick for the Austrians in defeat.
