You'd want your head examined or have daughters like Hopper McGrath, to manage a Ladies team thread

Yes, putting it up behind the crossbar however is to be encouraged :joy:

Great finish, Athenry looked flat at 6 down but the goal completely reinvigorated them

Tell that to the athenry players. They’d have took your hand off for another day 15 minutes ago

They would. They’d have taken your hand off for extra time 15 minutes ago.

Fair play to Camogie association going straight to replay. Extra time is an abomination in Gaelic football and hurling/camogie.

Therese Donohoe is some warrior. Clever out on the ball too.
Is she in her 40s?

Its a game of inches.

If it dropped an inch under she had it covered.

An inch over and she was letting it off. Many a goalie tries to bring one down that would have gone an inch over and it ends in disaster.

But putting your hurley to be in contact with the crossbar in front with the spring that comes off it is an absolute no no.

Ah they’d be cute. Massive windfall incoming from the replay gate reciepts

45, she will be nearly 46 by the time the replay comes around. Some going from her.

Ah yeah, it’ll open Croker :joy:

Meanwhile Camross are gone home to drink away and enjoy the Christmas, while these poor divils have to go and slog in the muck and shite over Christmas, begging and borrowing to get pitches, while tearing up same pitch.

What an awful thing to do to them.

Lotta sexism here with fellas making assumptions on what club camogie players want in instances of draws. For shame!

It is. And it should have ended today

I feel for the poor club Groundsman.

In Hurling when do you start pushing young goalies from batting to catching. I’d say u13/u14?

Plenty of players today have exams until end of next week too so they’d actually be able to enjoy it more now knowing there’s another crack at an All-Ireland after Christmas.

Some last 15 from Athenry, Donohue is some warrior. A bit more efficiency from Athenry on the their possession and they’d have won it.

Shows how valuable a hurling brain is.

Yeah it’s very much dependent on your keeper’s ability, height and hand eye coordination.

At u14 they will graduate from juvenile goals to full size, so you might have a u12 capable of plucking a ball from under the crossbar on the small goal, but then they go onto a big goal at u14 and they can scarcely tip the crossbar with the hurl.

I coach a group of u10 boys and we rotate the goalie between 2 or 3 of them. I would spend very little time on shot stopping with them. Most focus goes on hand eye coordination, lobbing balls rather than shooting them and concentrating on catching them and not letting soft ones in which is an absolute killer at any age grade.
