You'd want your head examined or have daughters like Hopper McGrath, to manage a Ladies team thread

Crock of fucking shit. They have played every fucking card there from being intimidated to Mental health. Seems to me that this is some sort of coup to get the manager out and a manager of there own choosing in.

I read the statement there before reading any of the replies here or the tweet from the great Colm Parkinson and, without knowing the full background, I did think…”oh they might conveniently be raising mental health issues without backing it up”.

The stigma around mental health has increasingly been chipped away, which is obviously a good thing. But a by product of that is people can opportunistically to pass off their own shit behaviour and cite mental health now.

I’m dubious here.

Their mental health is suffering I’d imagine, but it’s self inflicted. I’d say they are getting a lot of hard questions around Mayo, journalists chasing them etc.

What a pack of wankers.
That statement is the most millennial, snowflakey, contradictory, semi literate garbage I’ve read in a long time.
I’d be having an almighty row if my daughter were ever involved in anything like this. Mental health.
It demeans both themselves, and mental health (whatever that is).

You’d want your head examined to play the mental health card like that.

I saw a comment on social media that the manager called a few of them out over their weight and they freaked out.

This is the excuse that gets thrown out every time people are caught out. Look at the cunts that ripped off the charities, every single one of them cited some sort of mental health issue after being caught. No wonder mental health wont be taken seriously when everyone throws out the mental health card.

also no consideration for the mental health of the mgmt. team to leave the welfare allegation hanging over their heads for so long without any attempt at clarification. cunts to a woman and a pox on all their houses.

is it a collective mental health issue? like a hive mind? it is conceivable that one signatory may have had mental welfare issues before/during this debacle, but all of them?

I wouldn’t have signed my name against that.

In fairness
the names are typed not signed.

You get your kids involved in sport so that they develop a healthy lifestyle and hopefully socially interact with others. This shite would only encourage you to leave them with their playstations.

I wouldn’t have typed my name against it either or allow someone to.

the practices of corporations and multi nationals should not be allowed to seep into our sports, fucking mediation, it’s part of top level sport that there will be confrontation. A manager needs to be able to tell the truth and not walk around on egg shells. If you can’t accept the truth you’ve no business there.

it is a worrying trend alright Esso that people are becoming so fragile.

Sinead Kissane and Jacqui Hurley the only journalists invited to the press conference. I presume to invite any men would have left the players feeling unsafe again and affected their mental health even further.

The dangerous thing is that when they cited player welfare issues and left it for a few weeks then I am sure most people were thinking the manager was interfering with a young player. To then come out with this shite is unbelievable.

One of the examples is said to be Leahy asking one of the girls “was she blind, stupid or both”.

If the refuseniks feel they were in a environment where mental health was affected surely they should have informed the necessary social services last June .

Has the WGPA commented on this?

I’m keeping that one in my locker to produce it at an U12 blitz,

one of the best ones I heard was “are you intentionally being stupid or does it just come naturally to you”

nail on the head. they’ve cried wolf and have fuck all to back it up.
