Unsung heroes of sport on the radio. I’m thinking of the crew of chaps with the speech impediments who sum up the soccer on Irish radio on a Saturday afternoon. Like Andwew Cheal and Shane Pennington. Or the Rte GAA chaps, like Pat McAuliffe and Mike McCarthy ( Kerry would score three more points ).
That Cian Murtagh chap on OTB is painful to listen to. Awful attempts at bants with the others. Needless to say he is a rugby football man, primarily.
Pat McAuliffe is a hero. Any man who spends his summer traipsing around county grounds watching camogie 'keepers making mistake after mistake as they repeatedly let the high ball drop in over their head deserves a fucking medal.
Dicky Davis on Soccer Saturday on Sky seems like an alright sort.
Guy Swindells
Paul Rowley
Jesus, that fuckin cunt. I tried to listen to the sports hour the other evening. Turned it off in five minutes.
Chris Camara one is he ?
Oisin Langan is good.
Requiem for Moooichael McMullen
No he’s not.
John Gwynne on Sky. Does soccer on a Saturday and occasionally does the darts too.
He sounds like a bubbly character. You’d get the impression he’d drink anyone under the table.
Ah…
There’s a guy who does the Everton games usually for RTÉ. Can’t pronounce his Rs. Seems like a lovely chap, always gives an update on matters of Irish interest for his “cross-channel” listeners.
Does Phil Yates still provide snooker updates for sports news bulletins?
He does a fair bit of commentary for Eurosport.
Great shout on Phil Yates.
John Keith?
He does both Liverpool and Everton games.
That’s he. It was wrecking my head.
Yeah, he does both but Liverpool don’t seem to play at 3 on a Saturday as frequently.

He’s like a kindly grandfather, although presumably he doesn’t suck on Werther’s Original sweets during games for reasons of professionalism.
@mickee321 - is Pat Murphy still doing the East Midlands beat for 5 Live?
Pat is still the man in the midlands for 5 live. I think he misses Paul Lambert though.
Steve Claridge.
