Your favourite tragic TV character

Frank Sobotka for me - all he wanted was the best for his men but he was one man swimming against the tide and too honourable to roll around in the dirt with the greeks

Tragic in a more light hearted way but poor auld Hal never caught a break in Malcolm in the Middle. every caper he got involved in seemed to always end in disaster.

The Wire has so many of these.

I used to love the way Frank would fly off the handle and go off on one and then at the end of it be all remorseful. He simply wasn’t the hard ass he was trying to be, the soul of a kind man always shines through

Bubbles was another. A heart of gold. A junkie had more moral fiber than half the cops on the show

He ended up selling drugs for a finish. Very sad

Frank was brilliant. The port was dying and he was just trying to save it, a good man and a better man than most of those who locked him up. A fantastic character. The wire is the GOATV

They were all tragic characters in a way in the Sopranos. But Christopher was a particularly tragic character that fucked everything he touched. But his AA friend JT was a pure misfortune… He just couldn’t keep his shit together and Chris kicked the fuck out of him a number of times before whacking him for nothing.

Both Mark and Jez from Peep Show

Ronnie Gardocki from The Shield. 2 of his best mates dead, got a super scar from a Mexican drug dealer but worst of all was left high and dry by Vick Mackey who fucked him over to get full immunity.

The poor cunt got an awful dose.

Why is there never re runs of Malcolm in the middle?

It’s on All4 at the moment, we’re watching it with the kids,
Just tonight we saw the one in the bowling alley where Hal had the (almost) perfect game

It’s a brilliant show
