The winter of 1989/90 was a magical time and it felt like loads of good things were happening. Ireland qualified for the World Cup, the Berlin Wall fell, Mandela was released, the music was great, I started having nervous feelings towards a girl in my fourth class primary school class and couldn’t stop looking at her, she asked me why I was looking at her a lot and after a while I worked out I fancied her.
1995 felt like the 1960s must have felt. The summer of my first beer and my first cigarette, Oasis, Jayo, Manchester United messing up the league on the last day, and the sun, the endless sun.
2012 was the last year I sort of liked. The entire 21st century has been a bit of a let down in truth.
1995 for me graduated from college an endless summer of sun got first job in Dublin flat in Rathmines with 3 pals was earning £137.50 a week but felt like millions Major Toms of a Thursday night and riding at will those were the days🤣 Christ I’m old now🤦♂️
1994
Blackboard Jungle quarter finalist, U16 Club champ and inter county Leinster champions, first job cleaning up (literally and financially) as loungeboy in pubs during USA 94 and first gig (Oasis).
Drinking in the Shakespeare pub as Charlie missed the penalty and down to Flowing Tide to ‘celebrate’ with Down folk.
Halcyon days.
