Your ideal retirement

A few days off work this week and next so got me thinking about what I’d like to do when I finish working for ‘the man’.

I reckon I could handle living 8 months of the year somewhere on one of the Canary Islands just chilling out taking in the year round sunshine. From Mid May to Mid September then I’d return home and spend my time going to championship games and taking in the mid week National Hunt summer fixtures.

Those people in Africa don’t know how easy they have it.

What about it?

I imagine myself cycling a fixie along the Fingal Riviera with @The Selfish Giant, his dog jogging alongside and everyone pretending not to notice @thedancingbaby standing in the doorway of the bookies as we pass by.

Not in your retirement plans at all?

I wish I could retire. Man that would be sweet.

Damn!! Picture won’t upload!!

He would be hard to miss

Dry stock farming. Cruising around in a jeep, keeping an eye on things. A few holidays a year.

Once Mr Frawley passed away my love affair with the village ended. It will never be the same place.

You’ll miss the Indian outsourced teams all the same

Somewhere in SE Asia, preferably with a lax attitude to drugs, banging 20year olds everyday.

Stop wishing your lives away guys. Live in the here and now. As @Tassoti says life is for living. Enjoy it. Embrace it. Nutriblast it.

I want everyone who has posted on this thread to spend some time working on mindfulness exercises over the weekend.

If you don’t have an end goal then what do you have?

Between yourself, myself and KP we can surely come up with a website that will earn plenty of passive income that can be managed from anywhere in world.

I’m telling ye, a virtual distillery is the way to go. Let Irish ex pats around the world buy a bottle of ‘Irish’ whiskey with their name on the label. Mugs will buy anything Irish.

Sooo. Copying The Famous Grouse ?

?

Not Irish

the whole idea people have of retirement is mad I think…wait til you’re old to do what you always wanted to do…its nearly as flawed as religion in the notion of behaving well in this life and there is a better life waiting for you…
