Villa climbing away from relegation. Patrons will be delighted to hear that Richard Dunne was very good again. Clark missed out through injury so I’d say his first cap will have to wait. Makoun had a mare on his debut but a new kid Nathan Baker did well at left back in his first game. The likes of Beye, Warnock and Luke Young seem a long way down the pecking order now.

They deserved a draw. Liverpool had what I thought was a perfectly good goal disallowed for offside in the first half however.
Liverpool lacked any control in the midfield with Gerrard and Poulsen.

Will be sad to see VDS go. He is still a fine keeper but from what he has said it was his wife’s illness that was the deciding factor for him. Hope Utd dont take as long to properly replace him as they did Schmichael.
Rooney has scored 2 to put Man U 2-0 up at HT against Villa. Chelsea and Sunderland drawing 2-2 at half time. The match on Sky is utter gash with Wigan leading WBA 2-1. James McCarthy has been annoymous enough for Villa. In the other game Everton lead Arsenal 1-0 at HT.
