he’s 34 now, he was in his prime 4 years ago or so tintin. Still a fine player, dont get me wrong and maybe to say “halfd the player” is a bit unfair on him, I was just emphsisisng my opinion that he’s not as good now as he was in his prime, but with the injuries he’s not as athletic as he once was. To buy Given now after scouting him on and off for the past 7 or 8 years would be a very strange move from Wenger.
I agree with MBB here. Wenger could have signed him many times but had doubts over his distribution apparently. The same Wenger who hasn’t won a trophy in 5 years yet gets a new three year contract.
I agree with you that he should have been signed 4-5 years ago but he still is one of the top 3-4 keepers in the EPL, he was excedllent for city last year.
Lets be honest, the EPL has never been as weak for keepers as it has in the last 5 or so years. No harm going through it.

Given is still top 3-4 keeper, only Reina for sure ahead of him, Cech seemed to be near his best again at tail end of last year, so at full tilt he’s better as well, and obviously Hart is there or thereabouts.
i think Arsenal should break the bank for him, they have a real problem there. It doesn’t matter what they did or didn’t do in the past, if they bought Given now they’d have a better chance of winning the league this year, bottom line. And he’ll be good for at least another2 seasons after this, if not even more.
I’m not gone on Shay Given but I’ll change my opinion if he joins Celtic on loan. I think Reina’s a good bit better than the rest in the EPL but I haven’t seen his fook up yesterday.
