Ya ha ha. Indeed.
How come Hankey is unseeded. Is he not playing all the events, or is he sliding?
He was told to stop being a cunt and he refused so they wont seed him because he’s a cunt.
Ted was injured for a lot of the year Manuel.
Ted seems almost too focussed and he’s getting frustrated. It’s always been his main failing, he wants to win too much. Scotty keeping his cool and finishing well.
Waites is looking lethal on the doubles.
Ah Sidney will you cut the crap
Ah yes. My money is safe. Nobody should get near Waites in this.
Excellent darts from Scotty and he’ll take a lot of stopping but that was a shadow of the real Ted Hankey today.
Tony O’Shea said during commentary that there are four Ted Hankeys, maybe the non dart playing one was there today.
It said on the BBC that Scott won the Grand Slam of Darts in 2010. Is this a tournament just for BDO members or do guys from PDC participate also?
Ted made it extremely clear that he’ll be back at Lakeside for another crack at the title next year, fitter and more determined. That’s some consolation at least for his many fans.
Good question Larry and one I’m sure that a lot of people who look in at the darts occasionally are confused about. The Grand Slam of Darts is officially a PDC tournament, but unusually, a small number of BDO players are allowed compete. This year 7 of the 32 strong field were BDO players. The BDO players did particularly well. Scott Waites won the tournament, while BDO players generally had the better of head to head clashes with PDC players.
Here’s just a selection of some of these results:
Ted Hankey’s win over Phil Taylor,
Tony O’Shea’s 5-1 defeat of James Wade
Dave Chisnall’s 5-1 defeat of Simon Whitlock
and
Martin Phillips’s 5-2 defeat of current PDC finalist Adrian Lewis.
Just to sum up the afternoon’s darts Dean Winstanley and Martin Atkins hit a combined 16 180s but it was Winstanley who squeaked through 3-2.
Robbie Green beat Andy Boulton 3-0 a few minutes ago. Green’s wife is heavily pregnant and in the pre-match feature he wrapped a nappy around a Zippy from Rainbow doll in 20 seconds. Fail to prepare, prepare to fail.
After the match “Kong” contemplated the possiblity of her giving birth on the same day he would be playing the final. “She’s promised me she’s going to cross her legs or the week, I’ll have to see if I can find a big cork to stick in her”.
Real people, real darts.
Tonight it’s the “Battle of the Champions” as Martin Adams takes on John “Boy” Walton in the first of the last 16 clashes. Be sure to tune into BBC2 from 7:00.

[/quote]I must be honest I really enjoyed this afternoons live BDO darts!
Flano, how long before Scott Waites abandons the sinking ship that is the BDO in favour of the PDC???
rumour has it that he has one of the wildcards for the premier league should he move. there is so much money in the PDC that its just a matter of time before he moves.
It’s hard to know. I mean the problem with the BDO is that there are a handful of players who deserve to be playing in a properly run organisation, Scotty being one of them. I wouldn’t be surprised if we hear news of him moving once this BDO championship is finished, one way or another.
Unbelievable darts today. This is shaping up to be one of the best championships in years.
Great little feature with Wolfie and John Boy on BBC just now with the two World Champions reminiscing about the memorable moments they’ve had at Lakeside over the years. Amazing that they’ve never played each other on that famous stage.
And here we go.
