2011 GAA Betting Thread

No point in betting for the sake of it now is there…

Just saw this now.

Any of the supposedly learned hurling fans have any opinion on Michael Fennelly for hurler of the year at 22/1?

Cant wait for your tips this week Mac. The 1/5 last week was a bit unlucky.

Ya, stay the fuck away.

Armagh @ 1.83 is a bet i’ll take. Game played is a huge advantage at this time of the year and generally Armagh are better than Derry anyway. I normally watch myself in Ulster as its tricky, but i think this is a good bet.

Cork, Tipp, Antrim are pretty much shoe in’s and no value.

Fancy the Dubs and Galway to be very close. The Dubs are 1.83 @ +1. I have a slight fancy for them to win, but even if they don’t i can’t see them being blown away. I’ll be betting on this.

Early days but Cork @ 2.10 for the Munster Final looks a great bet.

That market is heavily skewed to the AI winner.
If you think Kilkenny will win the AI then I think he is the standout value bet there along with Rice.

Fennelly and Power were our 2 best players last year. Yet Power is much shorter.

Yes, its a huge advantage to both that they’ve already won a game each, otherwise they wouldn’t be in the semi final.

Ah i missed a Derry win so somewhere. Against Antrim i presume?

Still Armagh are a better team and i’ll still be taking the bet.

Fermanagh.

You’d be right though, only a fool would bet on Derry at anytime. Quite unpredictable. This is an average Ulster Cship.

Why are Armagh a great bet at that price? Your previous rationale seems to have been exposed a bit.

Why would you bet on Cork now? That price is likely to hold up to the day of the final barring injuries to key players on either side. The match is also a game of little
consequence, can’t imagine winning a farcical Monster championship means anything anymore and neither side will be upset losing.
A draw would suit both sides, give them an extra tough game

Ah bless, even in attempts to take the piss out of people, you still manage to fuck up simple maths.

was there a sixth in there somewhere?

Twas either 3 bets or 2 bets. I’ll let you decide since you’ve taken such a keen interest in my post. You also missed the point I was making about backing carlow without the handicap. The e300 I placed on them at 7/1 covers the losses from the others.

Opening balance - 100

Winnings - 2000

Closing balance - 1750 (donated some money to charity)

not really, it was five single bets. no mention of either or in the selection phase of your cliche ridden post. in the selection section, there was no mention of backing carlow outright.

1/5 it is. Plenty of time to turn it around though.

I concur.

Agreed.

Because it will make me money. The point of betting. It works like this, if i put 10 euro on Armagh i’ll get 18.30 back. I know you struggle with addition and such things, but thats generally how it works.

Can’t see the Cork price staying as people will get on it i suspect. Its a game of massive importance to both sides, you can sure of that. And more proof you are clueless thinking Cork and Kerry won’t go all out for this, the winner gets a nice break and gets to release players back to clubs etc. For Cork its about putting further doubt in Kerrys mind and for Kerry its about keeping Cork down a peg or two and maybe planting a seed of doubt. Both squads are going all out, i know that for sure.

After two sickening (one let down) 4 & 5 accumulators I’m going for a treble this week.

Antrim -4 v Westmeath @ 10/11
Over 3.5 goals in Duds & Chokers 11/10
Tipp over 2.5 goals @ 6/4.

Treble pays 10/1.

Others that interested me for what its worth were Cork v Laois under 2.5 goals @ 13/8 and Antrim Westmeath over 3.5 goals @ 6/5

Be wary of this, Cork have never beaten Laois in the Championship.

You have been warned.

Thats great MBB but that has nothing to do with the bet
