2011 Summer Transfer Window

I’ll believe it when I see it. Zamparini is full of shit.

I don’t think he’ll go to England to be honest. He has already stated a preference to go to Italy though Bayern are interested too.

David Odonkor has joined a 5th tier club in Germany after leaving Betis.

Riccardo Montolivo is being heavily linked with a move from Fiorentina to Milan.

Missed Torsten Frings joining FC Toronto - I see he made his debut there.

Danilo has joined Porto for €13m.

Tevez move off according to today fm this morning

Apparently Corinthians couldn’t even raise the initial £8m fee

Sporting Lisbon have signed Diego Capel for a fee of €3.5m. :o

Capel is not great but would definitely be on a par with Stewart Downing, which makes a mockery of the fee Liverpool paid.

Matt Taylor joing West Ham for 2 million.

I always thought him a decent enough player and well capable for the EPL.

Rudi Voller on Vidal to Juventus:

“The agreement between both teams hasn’t been reached yet but it’s very near.”

Gazzetta dello Sport reckon he’ll cost €12m and will sign a 5 year deal and earn €2.5-3.0m per year.

He’s out of contract next summer and Colo-Colo are entitled to 30% of any transfer fee.

Everton reject a 10m bid from Arsenal for Phil Jagielka.

I am surprised no one has ever come in for Tim Cahill. I think he’s an excellent player and Everton would probably sell if they got a big bid.

wrong side of 30

He is now but someone could have bid for him four or five years ago.

Cillian Sheridan has joined St Johnstone on loan for the season.

Alexis Sanchez has completed his move to Barcelona.

That should clear up Bojan to finalise his Roma transfer shortly.

I’m surprised at how determined Barca were to push this through. At first I thought he was one of a number of targets, with Rossi and maybe Aguero and others, but it’s obvious that he was definitely their #1 target. I suppose they couldn’t really finalise anything until Sheridan’s move was confirmed. That has really started the chain reaction for attackers moving around Europe now the Perth club have got their man.

How good is Sanchez lads? He looked excellent in the last World Cup.

+1

Sheridan’s move to the Perth giants will be a major boost to the local economy in Cavan. St. Johnstone jerseys will be flying off the hangers in Ulster’s shame county.

Fee for Sanchez reported to be €27m with another €11m in bonuses. Barcelona should officialy announce him either this evening or tomorrow morning - according to my source.

Very good, but time will tell how he fits into Barcelona’s style of play, while he does have a good work ethic, he does like to hog the ball which could be a problem in Barcelona’s fluid inter-passing system. I also view him as more of an out and out winger but he is adaptable in that regard. I do think he will be a success at Barca but it may take him a while to settle. Rossi would have been a better fit for Barca, IMO.

Presumably he’ll play in Pedro’s role on the right?

I heard a rumour recently that Pep is planning a 3-4-3 next season with Puyol, Pique and Abidal at the back, and Fabregas at the tip of the diamond. Probably complete bullshit.

Villa is in far more danger of losing his place than Pedro, barring a decent 6 week spell he had in the run up to Christmas last year he was quite average and hsi run of goals in that spell probably paint his stats in a better light. He still looks at odds with the Barca system. Sanchez played as a treq as well at times last year for Udinese and looks a fine player

Doubt that 3-4-3 would happen with any real degree of regularity as Danni Alves is such an important player for them at right back and the full backs pushing on and giving them width and stretching the oppostions defence is an integral part of their gameplan

There are alot of variables available to Barcelona in how they can line up. Although I don’t see why Guaridola would change a winning system. I presume with the signing of Sanchez and possibly Fabregas, along with the emergence of Thiago that he will show alot more faith in his fringe players and partake in a wider rotation this season.

I really like the 3-4-3 formation. Alot of clubs have deployed this in Italy (Udinese, Napoli & Genoa) and have played some refreshing attacking football. They question mark I’d have over this with Barcelona is who would he choose as the left wing back? Adriano and Maxwell - who are pretty ordinary - would be playing at the expense of a more accomplished midfielder or attacker.
