2012 Olympics

Not sure how he won that last round.

Nolan lucky to win that last round.

They scored the last round 3-2 to Nolan

Great result but scoring in the last round??

Mad, no way he won that 3-2, I had it 5-1 to the other lad

Baffling scoring there.

Dreadful last round, don’t know how the fuck the judges only gave the lad from Ecuador 2 points in the last round :strokechin:

How does the scoring work? Is it that each judge must vote at the same time for a punch?

Looked fucked alright.

The same way that the Chinese lad was winning rounds against Kenneth Egan and the same way Joe Ward lost in Turkey no doubt.

Yeah

Scoring in last round was as dodgy as tally for runt in adjudicator vote.

Fao of the forum. It’s pronounced Owl - art. Not ooo lart like oola.[/quote]

It annoys me that commentators don’t bother getting this right and it makes me believe they similarly get other clubs wrong too. Like I could be pronouncing other counties’ club names incorrectly for the same reason and it bothers me greatly.

Nolan wasn’t overly composed there - good to get a win on the board though.

Jimmy and bill both need to be put out to grass now, bill has come out with some mad statements and jimmy just talks over the boxing with providing any insight at all

A point is awarded for a scoring hit with marked part of the glove on the opponent’s head (side or front) or body (above the belt).

A panel of five judges decides which hits are scoring hits.

Judges each have two buttons before them, one for each boxer, and they press the appropriate button when they believe a boxer delivers a scoring hit.

An electronic scoring system registers a point whenever three or more judges press the button for one boxer within a second of each other. No point is awarded for a hit unless three of the five judges agree.

When two boxers trade blows in a flurry of infighting, where no full-force punches can land, the judges wait until the end of the exchange and award a point to the boxer who got the better of it.

Spain have been knocked out of the Olympics football.

Was thinking the same myself. I’d say the likes of Bray boxing club are raging that Nolan’s club in another sport entirely was getting far more air time than them.
I’d say we could get the benefit of some hometown decisions in the boxing. ‘Hometown decisions’ surely have as much to do with the roar that goes up from the fans when you land a punch as any corruption. When the judge hears a roar it’s human nature to press the button unless he’s in a soundproof booth.

I saw about ten minutes of Team GB’s victory(I presume, they were winning 3-1) over the UAE. The UAE were very comfortably playing keep ball. Team GB barely touched it during my viewing.

Outstanding answer scrunchie

Some Irish fella making a show of himself there in the eventing or modern pentathlon or whatever it is. Fat fucker fell of his horse.

Watching the Weightlifting here. There’s an 18 year old Brit - Zoe Smith - who is just gone into the lead {B Category} and for a weightlifter is very attractive. Her snatch - outstanding.
