2013 Lakeside World Darts Championships

Another missed dart for the match…and Richie steps in and makes it 2-2.

Sudden death it is.

Dave Prins misses his fifth match dart.

You get the feeling that he’s throwing this “haway”.

A 107 out shot by Richie to break!

Look at these scenes! Look at these scenes!

Richie takes out 107 to break throw!

Oh my word. I love The Lakeside.

Incredible scenes at the end. I hope Bobby will be able to stand up.

You have to feel sorry for Dave Prins. The Badger just couldn’t take that final sett he needed.

electric atmosphere at the Lakeside

lovely scenes there with father and son

What an opening day at Lakeside! Irish eyes are smiling, the Boy George marches on & the long Kist goodbye for the champ!

And there’s still 8 and a half more days to come.

I’m drained already, pal. I plan to adjust my diet and training regime to increase stamina levels or I’ll never last.

Me too, mate. And I thought Bobby George was going to check out* during that last game too.

 • Excuse the pun.

A metaphorical cover shot from BBC to ESPN now for coverage of the evening session.

I’ve changed my prediction and I fancy Alan Norris to win the whole thing.

Of course, I wouldn’t be surprised if he got dumped out in Round 1 either. There’s incredible strength in depth at The Lakeside.

The Dazzler walking on to Madness is the finest sight in sport.

What are his achievements in darts? Can’t say i’ve heard of him but you will tell me what he has done so far i am sure.

Well he defeated Dean Winstanley at last year’s World Championships. This is the same Winstanley who chucked a 9-darter recently in the fake championships on Sky Sports. I’m sure he has a Wikipedia page that you can reference.

Alan Norris is a top class player with massive scoring power. He’s a formidable contender for this title.

The Dazzler has always found Round 1 tough to get through. Seems to run up against a class player every year and it’s no exception this year in Benito van de Pas.

Great to see the Darryl’s daughter Michelle in the audience. She’s a supremely attractive young lady.

Another deciding set at The Lakeside as the huns supporting Fitton cheer on.

Nerves of steel by Fitton. Nails tops with his last dart and it’s 2-2 in the decider!

Another bona fide Lakeside classic.
