2014 Club Championships

Who’s the referee here with the mange?

SeĂĄn Cleere from Kilkenny.

That was respectively some point by Kilcormac to win it and some miss by the sub for the draw.

You’d have to say though that the sight of the Wexford champions togged out in black and amber as a tribute to Kilkenny hurling was pitiful.

Eunans beat Glenswilly in the Donegal final.

Semi final draw:

Omagh v Eunans or Roslea
Clontibret v Cavan Gaels or Slaughtneill

I would expect Omagh to make the final, the other side would be tighter but Clontibret probably the pick of them.

Omagh are no great shakes though and won’t put the fear of god into the top club sides.

I would agree, if they didn’t beat Cross today they never would. Down to 13 men, Aaron Kernan not fit to start, Carragher injured after five minutes, conditions more suited to Omagh and Cross not capitalising on their dominance. The Omagh manager said after the game that O’Neill had being carrying an injury this week, I wasn’t impressed with him overall though he did score 1-3 from player, some of which were good scores - generally Morgan had him well under wraps for most of the game and he came into in the end when the space opened up with Cross down to 13. Joe McMahon was really quiet as well.

Barry Tierney was superb and Mickey Harte might consider giving Conor Meyler a look at when Omagh’s involvement ends.

Killian/Cillian Kiely. He also scored a brilliant point in the first half of extra time to level it up after a solo run which started in his own half. Looks like a very good player.

Pretty naive from Shelmaliers. Three defenders and the keeper going up with the hand on the corner of the square for the late levelling goal. Keeper should have stayed at home and he would have been in position to save the shot. Even once the forward caught the ball, he surely should have been hooked or blocked.

Currams had some uncharacteristic misses but Shelmaliers fluffed a load of chances.

A HIRE COMPANY in Laois have given Portlaoise an added boost this weekend by arranging to have Aussie Rules star Zach Tuohy fly home for their Leinster SFC quarter-final this Sunday.

The Laois champions take on the reigning All-Ireland champions at O’Moore Park, Portlaoise but, thanks to Laois Hire, will be able to call upon the Carlton FC player for the game.

Tuohy says he is “delighted to be home” and to be available for his team as they look to avenge their defeat to the Dublin side in last year’s club final.

“Portlaoise were magnificent in the county final, winning it for the eighth time in a row. I hope to be able to contribute if called upon in the Leinster quarter-final and hopefully we’ll gain revenge for last year’s final loss.

“St. Vincent’s are a very strong team, worthy All Ireland champions, and this will be a very tough game for us, but we’re up for it and hopefully we can do well.”
Michael Killeen, Managing Director of Laois Hire says his company were only too happy to help.

“We have a long tradition of supporting the GAA and Portlaoise GAA Club in particular and we’re delighted to be able to assist in bringing Zach home for this important match.

“He’s a class act and a credit to his club and his family and we hope Portlaoise go on to greater success in Leinster and beyond.”

You’d be fairly happy if you were dropped for him.

That is absolutely ridiculous.

Its happened many times in the past and there’s never been a whisper. Zach is hugely liked in the Portlaoise dressing room, and they all recognise that he’d be there with them only for the opportunity he has in Australia.

Not bad for a club who are millions and millions in debt to be able to “avail” of such assistance though.

The Mid Kerry goalie when he pulls down Donaghy, the dirty snake

he’s been flown in to mark Connolly and that is exactly what he’ll do…super player…hard as nails too…

Be cheaper to get someone to break that square jaw during the anthem.

The flight home probably cost your man 1,500 max. He’s getting multiples of that in free advertising today.

The queues will be out the door from loyal Portlaois fans looking to hire stuff from him

Well I know if I’m ever in Portlaoise and need to hire a compressor I’ll be going straight to Laois Hire.

Tool hire - have Newstalk also used this company’s services to get Parky on Off the Ball?
