Yea, youâre right on that. Thereâs no question of Zach upsetting the dressing room, the core of the squad that are there now, are his generation, and they all understand the opportunity he got and how he had to take it. Heâs home every year, and I would suspect heâs had gametime in at least 7 of the 8 in a row won by Portlaoise. Heâll also have unfinished business with Vincents as he felt he was harshly sent off against them back in 07 in Parnell Park.
For what its worth, they won Leinster as recently as 2009 and before that in 2004 and top the roll of honour for Leinster titles, so theyâre not exactly on Oulartâs level just yet.
forgot about that one in 09. I was just thinking of their losses the past couple of years in the final and before that in years they should have made the final with this crop of players. It just seems that they could be coming to the end of their dominance and that you need to take as much as you can when the opportunities are there.
maybe they have taken their opportunities to get to where they did and simply arenât good enough to take the next stepâŚat the end of the day if you are good enough you will get thereâŚ
Agreed to an extent, but the team has changed quite a lot over the years and Iâm not so sure theyâre coming to an end anytime soon of their dominance in Laois anyway.
For what its worth, they have appeared however in 3 Leinster Finals in 5 years, losing 2 to Dublin Champions (Vins in '13 and Ballymun in '12), and defeating Westmeath Champions in the other. In the years they didnt make the finals they lost to St Brigids in '11 and Crokes in '10. Of those teams that beat them in 4 of those 5 years, 3 went on to win All Irelandâs. Its not like theyâre losing out to shit like they did in '07. Incidentally, in '06 they also lost out to Vins, the eventual All Ireland Champions again that year. Theyâre rarely far away from it, the Dublin teams come through an incredibly tough Championship and any team that emerges from it are practically immediately All Ireland favourites, and rightly so.
Corofin may well be among the favourites for the football overall, but I think The Willies are a great bet (+12 @10/11) for anyone interested in a handy weekend accum. Whateverway the game enfolds, they wonât surrender, throw their shoulders to the sky and look for someone else to blame.
By fuck they wonât, itâs not their way nor was it ever.
Sons carrying the traditions of fathers will take the field, the death yesterday of former legend Frank Smythâs mother will unite the little half-parish and Iâd expect The Willies to come out blazing on Sunday. As TDB says they have nothing to lose, a bunch of young lads, unburdened by expectation and sans baggage in Connacht semi-final. Fuck it, whatâs not to like about it from a gambling perspectiveâŚ

12 points is a big spread (or close to spread) at this time of the year and in provincial championship. Hammerings of that sort are rare.
Would be hugely surprised if Corofin win AI, unless they have uncovered a few young lads I donât know much about. They always lacked the overall forward line class and physicality to win in the last few years I thought.

We have the pleasure of the input of a few of the Quinns in our club in Dublin. A hardier shower of cunts you wonât meet.
Looking forward to it. Conor McGrath on Micky Cahill could decide it, while at the other end of the pitch you have Conor Ryan on Lar and also Podge on P Maher
Conor Phelan is out of the county final against Ballyhale on Sunday week. Heart trouble again, he had surgery last week according to the Indo.
Poor lad.
Itâs a bit rubbish that it is being played on a soggy wet pitch on a cold damp day. This whole thing should be run off sooner, or postponed entirely until may. This would be brilliant on a warm day with a dry surface.
Play it in UL on the all weather pitch.
Putting one of them down in Cusack park would be a better investment than a fucking new stand, there would be enough change for new toilets and all.
