HON THE FUCKING ROCKIES
Gaelic Grounds is our backyard. We even beat Crusheen a few years back in Ennis.
Thatās more like it.
You can impress your friends with some of the following in the pub at the weekend;
They are named the Rockies due to the fact that they are based around Rock street. When the Kerry County Board decided Tralee was too strong to compete at Senior in the 1920ās they split it into three clubs which had been competing in the town league prior to that Rock Street (Stacks) , Strand Road (Kerins OāRahillys) and Boherbee (John Mitchells), the locals still refer to the clubs by their original names sometimes.
The story goes that every house on Rock street has an All Ireland Medal. Its not quite true but it does have more medals than houses, something like twenty one medals to twenty houses. These were won in an 18 year period.
Austin Stacks have more senior All Ireland medal winners and all stars than any other club.
The club is named after revolutionary Austin Stack who himself won all Ireland Football medals.
They are also the only club in Kerry to have done the Senior Football & Hurling double (twice), though it was back in the early 30ās.
LOI star Billy Dennehy is a Stacks man.
@thedancingbaby - for further info, Ballincollig call themselves Da Village and\or Da 'Collig. It also has its LOI stars, like Colin Healy (grandson of famous Cork hurler āHitlerā Healy) and Mark McNulty.
They are more famous in football for losing finals. They have a dreadful record in them.

How long ago was the Cork final Kev? The stacks gave it a good rattle after their victory but should be recovered.
3\4 weeks. Ballincollig went bananas after winner, but Iād say knocked it on the head by the Wednesday. These lads operate on a semi-pro level really these days.the majority of them wouldnāt be able for too much partying. Plus from what I heard they have taken the attitude of we may never be here again in relation to the Munster Club.
They play good football, could be a great game.
WHAT???
FUCKIN CUNTS
:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
FUCK OFF, FOOTBALL
Itās ok @Piles Hussain , Iāll be at it and will give you a lopsided and probably inaccurate report.
By the way, Vegasās young minor forward John Walsh hurled up a storm last Sunday, I think he scored 9 of their 17 points ( it was a good match). If we were from Limerick now weād be speculating about when heād be brought into the senior setupā¦,

Has anyone from Vegas been on the panel long before Walter Burke or since him? Or anyone who played rather than an unused sub?
They seem to have a really young team. Average age around 23 Iād say? Dont seem to have many lads around the 30 mark anyway other than Dwyer.

They won the U-21 last year so built around that I guess. They looked really strong and powerful in that final last year- they trampled OāLoughlins
Apart from Willie O Dwyer-I couldnāt tell you whether any other Vegas lads were in with the county- but Iād be rubbish at distinguishing between the southern clubs.
Iād say KK selectors were looking at the Vegas full back, he was the U-21 full back this year
:oops:
Why the name Vegas?
The area is well known for its underground gambling operations
Itās short for Mullinavegas.
Reason I had heard it was Vegas, or Mullinavegas, was because with the layout of the village being just a straight main road for about a mile, and when the street lights went in, there was one really bright one in the middle of the strip as they call it, which got the sarcastic name of being like Vegas. And it easily fits into Mullinavegas as a result.
Nearby Waterford neighbours @Fagan ODowd or @Fran might be able to confirm or shed more light.

It was Vegas ever before those lights went in. Not sure why itās Vegas, I think it was a bit of a joke that just stuck.
Joe Walsh (Uncle of John Walsh) played with the senior team, canāt remember the year(s). Pat Hoban (Minor Manager) was on the panel in 92 & 93.

Must be something in the water down there. The Vegas always grew them big and ugly. Going down there underage used to be an experience. 15 big hairy bastards youād be lining out against at U-14. Luckily enough they hadnāt the skill to match their size most of the time.

Joe Walsh was on the panel in the early 90ās including the AI winning years of 92 and 93. A very good corner back, got plenty of game time when he was knocking around, played the semi final of 92 (i think) due to Eddie Nuts being injured.
Says the guy who uses the gayest pseudo name in history.
