2014 National Football League

Sean Armstrong would be what darragh O Se said tonight on setanta ‘we refer to in Kerry as a typical townie forward’ when talking about James o donoghue. He meant it as a compliment in that they are skilful and classy rather than windy and flaky.
Gooch being the obvious one but what others can ye think of over the years?

A big moment for women in GAA tonight, the first ever womens official as part of an NFL refereeing team.

So they got her to take the minutes.

The more of them the better. Far more efficient that the men.

What club is Costello?

Costello is Whitehall.

Is she multitasking in that pic?

What a twee phrase.

Seanie Leary? Kevin Hennessey?

Ya, I was thinking football. Would not put Hennessy there though.

Who was presenter?

John Fitzgibbon
Dinny Allen
Philip Clifford
Fionnan Murray

Some more townie than others

John Fitzgibbon is a good call, Ditto Dinny Allen and JBM was mentioned earlier. Dave Barry and Joe Kavanagh worth a mention??

Cooper, Mikey Sheehy and now James O’Donoghue spring to mind in Kerry.

Used be a saying in Kerry that you got the hardy backs in North Kerry ( Kenneally, Deenihan, Flaherty, Breen, Fitzmaurice etc) and West Kerry ( The O’Se’s, Bill Casey, Paddy Bawn Brosnan) and the classy forwards in the big towns.

Dinny Allen and John fitz are the type of lads we’re looking for here. The other two not so much.
Fionan Murray had red cheeks ffs

I can safely say we’ll have no one from Kilkenny mentioned here.

Galway somehow lead Meath in Navan 2-6 to 2-4 and now have a penalty.

Penalty save by the Meath keeper.

Half time in Navan, Galway up by two but Meath have spurned 3 or 4 excellent goal chances.

centre back was never really going to work out despite the talk around it. might have worked a few years ago when he was faster but back then Kerry had loads of options at 6 - Brosnan, Mahony, Fitzmaurice etc

Galvin was outstanding at wing back for UCC in 1999 when UCC won the munster club title. Think he won the Munster Club footballer of the year that season.
Conroy should be playing MF and Greg Higgens should not be on the panel let alone the 1st 15
Galway (NFL v Meath) - Manus Breathnach; Donal O’Neill, Finian Hanley, Johnny Duane; Paul Varley, Joss Moore, Sean Denvir; Greg Higgins, Fiontan O’Curraoin; Gary Sice, Sean Armstrong, Paul Conroy; Shane Walsh, Michael Martin, James Kavanagh.

Subs: Nathan King, Eoin Walsh, Ronan Steede, Tom Flynn, Eoin Concannon, Cathal Mylran, David O’Connell, Damien Comer, Adrian Varley.
It’s fucking beyond ridiculous at this stage that Mulholland continues to pick Greg Higgins…Seriously, this fella wasn’t ever pacy enough or good enough, even at his peak 4 or 5 years ago. His selection is then compounded by leaving our best ball carrier, Tom Flynn, on the bench.

I really have no faith in Mul at all, that’s a talented enough squad he has but if they come to anything, it will be in spite of him rather than because of him.

Mulholland has a decent cv ?? All Ireland under 21 and success with Salthill\Knock?

Galway have had every type of manager from local men to outside all Ireland winning managers e.g. Liam Sammon, Joe Kernan , Tomas O’Flaharta and now another local man. Surely at this stage time for the players to stand up and less focus on the manager

The more time goes by the more it looks like Sammon got a raw deal. Galway played brilliant football under him in that all Ireland qf v Kerry in monsoon conditions. Havent come near that form 3 managers later!

Tom Flynn has come on and just rifled one into the back of the net, Galway 3-6, Meath 2-4
