The end of the world is nigh, expect the papers to be full of naysayers and hand wringing tomorrow as the prestigious O’Byrne Cup will see the new Gaelic Football rules used in earnest. Laois travel to Wexford, I wish my Wexford forumites all the best in this highly anticipated clash.
No doubt about it Rocko, great to see the top referee in the country Maurice Deegan leading from the forefront with the new rules, followed closely by the up and coming Eddie Kinsella.
Standout aspect of the aforementioned Laois Wexford tie is no doubt the goalkeeper match up. Laois are to due to have the Portlaoise sub goalie Graham Brody between the posts, while Wexford seem to have cut ties with that lepping yahoo Masterson and have stuck former attacker Shane Roche manning the nets. Thats just one of the many mouthwatering match ups in prospect in New Ross later today.
Great thread but shocking opening post that dosen’t do it justice
really looking forward to the McGrath Cup this year, thinking of making it back for the semi finals if we ( CIT) make it thru
(I suppose)* those horrible cunts in Ulster will be arguing over player availability and Mickey Harte will be whining away trying to create the usual siege mentality.
This is the time of year where shit counties will hire some lunatic and have players running through assault courses 7 nights of the week in the belief the punishment will create a psychotic “hunger” come next May…
I cant wait
Ill be tuning in to Jacqui Hurley from 4pm ( jerusalem/Amman/Istanbul) and will provide updates to the forum.

I hear a surprisingly large number of Laois supporters have used this O’Byrne Cup tie as the perfect excuse to fit in a weekend city break away from home.
Certainly another indicator of the economy picking up.
Any updates on whether today’s match in New Ross between Wexford and Laois is still going ahead? Brother in law making the trip and doesn’t want to waste a journey unnecessarily. Ta.
3,500 watching Tyrone Donegal today, impressive crowd, further showing these competitions to be as important as the Provincial competitions as some respected posters here have stated in the past.
Brian Carty’s son is in goals for UCD today against Offaly I believe.
