Yep time to move and discuss the other semi final now. Getting nervous about this one, we have the forwards to win the game but jesus we are shite at the back. Hopefully the ending of the Fermanagh match will have given the Team the fright they needed and will tighten things up.
Still expect us to win. I wonder will Mayo take the Hill 16 end again for the warm up.
Interesting that Kerry, for a team with no goal chances kicked 11 scores from inside the D, where as Tyrone, who “opened Kerry up” were largely restricted to shooting from 30 yards +
Tyrone were never opened up once in that game, how many of those scores inside the D came from a botched Morgan kickout in the second half?
Tyrone had 4 goal chances exclusive of the penalty incidents. Kerry had none. Our defensive structure worked perfectly but we fluffed our lines with the goal chances.
If they were restricted to shots outside the D then how did they created 6 opportunities at goals?
The goal opportunities Tyrone created alone in that game amounted to the same amount of score Kerry got in that game. Our game plan was far more effective but we lacked the composure to take our chances.
At this moment I’m leaning towards a Mayo victory by one point, although I can easily see the 30 year symmetrical pattern of draws between these teams in semi-finals in years ending in 5 continuing.
Compared to two years ago when these teams last met, Paul Flynn and MDMA are not playing to the same standard. These two more than anybody else were the driving force behind Dublin’s attacking game.
So the team that were losing were creating the goal chances, and the team that were winning just kept taking points and staying in front. Yet you find it odd that this happened?
Tyrone created two of those goal chances when threw of those goal chances when they were either leading, drawing or trailing by a point. They were scores to extend our lead or put us in the lead.
I think Dublin will start with the same 15 that started against Fermanagh. Real worry is O’Shea against O’Carroll.
