I wouldn’t be overly worried about O’Shea. O’Carroll has very rarely been cleaned out in a one on one contest. Expect to see Cian O’Sullivan dropping back even deeper to assist him.
Seriously worried about MDMA and Flynn’s form. Dublin half forward line need to put Mayo half backs on the back foot and I don’t think Flynn is playing at a level at the moment to do that. Fenton has not been seriously tested yet in midfield and will need a strong MDMA beside him. Bastick could possibly start in this regard.
I still fancy Dublin to sneak it by 2 points. I think Rock will play a big part in the win if he nails his frees which I think he will do.
How have Tyrone 6 chances?
Marc O Se.'s block wasn’t really much of a chance and I felt it was over blown at the time. Kerry were well covered. The penalty was far from a chance and the decision not to give that long streak of piss a penalty wasn’t next or near clear cut either.
The ball not given to McCurry was clearly a missed opportunity. All others were “maybe’s” at best. Tyrone lack of support was a problem and some of those “chances” could have at least been points on recycles. But they weren’t brave enough to attack at that rate particularly in first half.
Tyrone’s confidence in front of goal was summarised to me by the lad standing closest to whoever was fouled for the penalty. Standing no more than 3-4 yards away and unmarked he ran 20 yards out of the way to protest to the ref rather than taking a handpass and making use of the advantage rule.
Sure if nothing came of it he had a penalty to fall back on. Anyone in an opponents square who runs away from an opportunity like that shouldn’t be on the pitch in the first place. Kerry defence was stretched from what I remember and would have been easy enough for them to recycle and score.
Deegan was awarding the penalty regardless of protests so that’s not an excuse either.
The advantage rule is not a free shot rule, you imbecile. If the referee does play the advantage and McAliskey has a goal chance and misses then he shouldn’t be calling it back.
