Ah Kev. That’s stretching things a bit, even for you. McCarthy got back to put a little pressure on him. You’re only seeing things one way.

He was doing damage coming from midfield/centre forward.
Brain dead playing him at 14 when the ball was shit

Very surprised that Paddy Andrews was left in so much space so often by Keith Higgins today.

I think the Shamrock Rovers spongeboy should be player of the year

Hard to judge from TV to be honest, but any contact other than Shoulder to shoulder in the act of shooting not on the ball is a free.

Either way it was more about him than Mccarthy.

Higgins was badly exposed today

Higgins looked off the pace today. I wonder was he sick or summat?

Philly McMahon was outstanding today.

Yes, mate. He outscored his direct marker from full back!

SOS for Kilmacud’s Junior 8s for players for a game in Fairview in the morning

Thought Brogan was class today, who was meant to have been marking him?

Haven’t watched the game back yet but will do tomorrow morning, team of the Championship so far for me would be:

  1. Kealy
  2. Philly McMahon
  3. McNamee
  4. McCarron
  5. McCaffrey
  6. Keegan
  7. Harte
  8. Maher
  9. Parsons
  10. Diarmuid O’Connor
  11. Kilkenny
  12. O’Brien
  13. Brogan
  14. O’Shea
  15. McManus

I would say that O’Shea and Parsons are the players most in jeopardy there, big performances from the likes of Moran, Andrews, Geaney or O’Donoghue will probably see them them lose their spots. O’Shea was really ineffectual in both games against Dublin.

Composition of:

Kerry x3
Dublin x4
Mayo x4
Tyrone x3
Monaghan x1

I don’t believe there’s a rule to disallow incidental contact when someone is shooting. Anyway, it wasn’t really relevant. The referee wasn’t a factor.

Barrett #6 was marking him and I thought he did quite well overall. But Brogan persevered and made a big impact late on.

Yeah, just finished watching things back now.

Cafferkey seemed to be marking him later on in the game. Thought Brogan was class throughout, anytime he was getting decent ball into him he was running amock. Dublin had a number of forwards who were winning their duels quite comfortably and Mayo had none who were winning their duels.

The analysis after the game really cut Mayo to shreds but that defending has to be seen to believed, the space left open for McMahon in the first half was shocking, it was unbelievable in fact. These Mayo lads might be good man markers and footballers but they certainly lack intelligence, good defenders who know what they’re at will never allow 30 yards free space directly between the goalkeeper and opposition when the opponents are on the attack.

For those who were rattling on about O’Connor, he was poor again and his discipline was very questionable. He offered little from play and bar a decent point early on rarely featured, after watching it back, the goal was laid on a plate for him after great donkey work from Moran and O’Connor managed to blow a one-on-one opportunity by fouling the ball and was blessed it wasn’t spotted by the ref and chalked off… The frees he got today were routine, he is hideously overrated and Mayo carry him from open play. Picked up a stupid yellow card early on and he had a number of fouls after that.

Gavin’s subs worked very well. MacAuley in particular making a big impact. The Mayo subs were criminally bad, why were Parsons and Moran subbed after losing Seamie O’Shea? Vaughan seemed to be carrying an injury as well so it begs the question of why he started. The writing on the wall was there in the first half for Mayo, they were getting their scores with ease, balls usually played into the forwards, turn, shoot, point. Mayo on the other hand had a full forward line who couldn’t loosen themselves free, a half forward line who weren’t good enough to play decent ball into O’Shea and also weren’t confident enough to really back themselves shooting from distance which became more obvious as the game went on.

Cillian O’Connor is the only one they have who can shoot reliably but he is so easily marked it’s unreal. Diarmuid O’Connor is a class act in fairnes and did get a number of nice points but he also had as many wides.

Lee Keegan did another class job on Connolly who was very quiet, Flynn needs to be dropped, completely anonymous again today, thought Dublin were generally solid in defence and I’d favour them for the final.

Nailed on All Star?

Huh.

He’s only started three games this year and the defence leaked 6 goals in those 3 games, he was decent but far away from an All star. He was decent yesterday without being anything spectacular.

“What a goal” “Unbelievable”

You fucking mug, O’Connor managed to turn a gilt edged opportunity, one on one with the keeper into a free out situation. Yes it is unbelievable.

He was pretty poor again yesterday, featured little from open play and all the credit for the goal should go to Moran who did all the donkey work for it.

O’Connor is far removed from being a top level forward and his discipline is very questionable.

One game left and there is NO outstanding candidate for Footballer of the Year.
