2015 All Ireland Football Championship - FOR THE LOVE OF GOD MAKE IT STOP

Bullshit.

Would you have European teams being allowed to avoid each other the World Cup finals because they had a harder qualifying route than the African and Asian ones?

Europe gets a higher allocation of teams in the World Cup than any other continent.

Christ.

Sweep, sweep.

It was a terrible riposte from you.

Europe has by far and away the largest allocation of WC spots as it is recognised as the strongest footballing continent. The same is not the case for the All Ireland Championship.

The clue for that is in the title ‘All-Ireland’.

There is no weighting for teams being given a second chance. Tradition and history has dictated the make up of the provincial system.

Complaining over how you’re being given a second chance, when you want to retain the first route is nonsensical.

It’s not. The provincial system is imbalanced so the qualifier system should do its job and redress the imbalance of the current failing.

You’re a Holocaust Suggester.

the advantage rule was a great addition to the championship.

I’m no expert on the matter but I thought the original job of the qualifiers was to guarantee teams at least 2 games? If that’s correct then it has served its purpose

You are correct Sir.

seems to be the problem here. Dudes are watching other sports and trying to apply the format to gaelic games, which doesn’t work because its a competition built on a geographical structure. There’s also a push by ‘sports experts’ to create more games because it results in more preparation and ‘conditioning’ and ‘rehab’ ‘prehab’ and ‘mental preparation’ which ultimately means more cheese in a lot of phoney’s pockets.

You’re the only proclaiming open draws and luck of the draw when it’s anything but. The draw is relatively predetermined and fixed both in the provincial system and qualifier route.

You are the one who seems staunchly against any move to tackle the imbalance of the draw. Why us that?

Incorrect. I never said the current system was ideal and I’m completely behind change, just not the short sighted and narrow minded one that you’re proposing.

As correctly stated by @Lordcardigan the current system was put in place to give counties a second chance and it accomplished that purpose. ‘Protecting’ teams from playing teams that they haven’t already played is laughable at best.

It irritates me when I hear media people go on about the format of competitions in other sports as an “argument” about why the championship format should be changed. The Off The Ball crowd are particularly bad for this.

The qualifiers should redress the provincial imbalance. Why do you disagree with that premise?

Because the qualifiers is for losers and they should be grateful for getting a second bite at the cherry.

That’s grand when you hail from one horse provinces. There is a huge inequity in the provincial system as is, so why not use to the qualifier system to level the playing field?

Your reaction stems of someone shouting from an ivory tower.

@Nembo_Kid this is exactly the point.

If you want a Championship that seeds teams etc then the current structure is not fit for purpose as it was not designed with that that aim.

if this debate came up when Cavan were lording it over everyone in Ulster while the other provinces were more competitive in Ulster would you have maintained the same stance?

The qualifier can easily redress the provincial imbalance but you seem loathe to tackle that?

I asked you before, why does that premise upset you?
