You can see the bar in the background as the players throw. The notable thing is that during the matches there’s usually nobody at it. The knowledgeable Lakeside audience, a full house as always don’t forget, are totally engrossed in the darts.
600 a full house?
Robbie Green averaging 104 against Peter Sajwani who has already hit three 180s.
Nice bit of tension bubbling underneath the surface here between the two players.
Robbie “soon to be off to the PDC” Green
Christ I tried watching that Swedish lad v Kong but I just can’t.
And I respect the BDO.
There are 1,200 real darts fans at Lakeside right now.
There weren’t 1,200 real darts fans at the Ally Pally over the course over the whole tournament.

Awful? No wonder ticket slales are gone down the swanny.

Not true, all Afternoon sessions at 50% capacity. Even last nights “action” did’nt look 60% full.
I know what a 50% capacity at a darts event looks like. That’s because I’ve seen the semi-finals night at the pdc event at Citywest.
What @jimmy29 hasn’t revealed is that there were a few touts in a couple of the local pubs at Frimley Green selling tickets for three times face value earlier. Thankfully the knowledgeable darts enthusiasts who were having a pre-session pint there made citizen’s arrests and distributed the tickets to knowledgeable locals.
Kong goes through to the quarter-finals but we won’t forget the impact that Swedish supermarket worker Peter “Stakka Bo” Sajwani has made. A true entertainer who has made many friends, and won many hearts this week.

Robbie “Off to the PDC” Green. I hope he wins it, another Lakeside champion off to test himself in the PDC.

Touts at the BDO? Ive heard it all now. I did see several touts at the Premier League in Dublin last year which was a 10,000 sell out and is again this year.
Peter Sajwani will be “backarooney” next year.
What a character.
Absolutely sickening to see pdc trolls racially abusing Peter Sajwani on social media and darts forums. You wouldn’t expect any more from them however.
Ted Hankey is a tremendously erudite analyst. Mixes that trademark biting Hankey humour with cogent, knowledgeable points that showcase his vast, vast experience in the game.
Ironic that the Count failed to qualify automatically this year due to not playing in the Romanian Open but the tournament’s loss is also the tournament’s gain, albeit in a different role to what we’re used to.
Lakeside trivia: This is the first time since 1992 that no Dutch player has made it to the last 16.
Yorkshire’s Brian Dawson edged out Madars Razma of Latvia, who just couldn’t quite bring the same Razma-tazz he showed against reigning Winmau World Master Martin Phillips, 4-3.
Wolfie back in action now against Jim Widmayer. It’s the veteran maestro’s 67th match on the famous Lakeside stage.
Even the computer feeling the pressure of the famous Lakeside stage as we have a scoreboard miscalculation. Thankfully the referees spotted it straight away. That’s why they’re the best in the business.
Wolfie cruised through like the champion he is with a 4-0 victory.
Geert de Vos is overpriced at 11/8 in my view to beat Scotty Mitchell in the match coming up. I won’t be including this in my tips thread however as I’d love to see Scotty go further, and I don’t want any financial interest to interfere with my support for him. But I feel de Vos may just get the better of him.

This is predictably turning into another Lakeside classic™.
2-2 in sets at the moment.

There’s going to be a nine darter in this tournament. I can feel it.
If it happens I’ll cream myself as much as Kay Burley wets herself when a load of innocent French people are massacred by machine gun-toting Islamic extremists.
Scotty has found his groove here and leads 3-2. Strong favourite to win with the darts in set 6.
Great to see our perennial Belgian darting enthusiast Jacky is back at the Lakeside yet again. He’s one of these people you always expect to hear has died during the year as I doubt he has much else in his life other than coming to Lakeside every January. But a great man all the same.
Scotty one leg away from the win.
