It is and Commercials can be flakey enough, they lost their last two South Tipp finals to Kilsheelan and Killenaule (neither a football stronghold).
Was quite surprised at the resilience shown against Nemo Rangers considering the poor conditions.
That said, they’ve utterly dominated underage for the past few years, they’ve won the last two U-21 and are going for 6 in a row in the Minor.
The London final was only played a few weeks ago, so TCG will be fresh as well. You’d expect a Corofin, Cross, etc to go there and do what is needed, but given the celebrations in Clonmel, its far from certain.
Killenaule always have the making of serious football sides.
This Clonmel team is full of talent and seem to be fairly focused. Because their previous teams were flaky does not mean this one is, and in fact they have shown the opposite numerous times in the past year.
I agree 100% but for some clubs their final is on the last weekend in april or first in may. Win that game and you maintain your status. Everything else then is a bonus.
Its fucked up, but thats the reality for at least 2/3rds of the clubs. The whole competition has suffered due to the fear put into teams with relegation.
Nothing says grassroots like flying your intercounty (from donegal) ringer back from dubai for a game. With probably the biggest clib in the country and a pick of 40 thousand people, how many players did ballyboden import into yesterday’s team?
pick of 40,000…so remind me again how many soccer world cups china and India have won pal? …if its all about numbers!!! its such a lazy argument…
But as far as flying back a guy who barely played for the club for matches just because he’s very good is totally against the spirit of what the GAA is meant to be about and especially against the way AIB market the competition… its very disappointing and when you see the success boden are having underage and work being done it takes the gloss of yesterdays win …himself and the wing forward are the only two players on the pitch who didn’t come up through the ranks
if you are referring to Portloaise flying back the lad in Oz who played all his life for the club, then I don’t see how they compare to a guy who has only played maybe 4 times for the club and has no real attachment to it,…
Yeah numbers really hurts your chances. And anyways the amount of club players and adult players they have is huge, its not just a large population, arguably the biggest club in the country along with crokes. How many were on the field sunday from outside of it? Does it not sicken their own dublin minors and u21s who cant make their own club team?
