Indeed, they hardly tried to score.
Tired minds, tired bodies, revert to type sadly.
Who is the fat guy with McGuinness in the studio?
It’s not Senan Connell anyway and for that we must be eternally fucking grateful.
Found this highlights clip of the Ulster Football Championship.
Leo McLoone has rejoined the Donegal panel. Massive boost for them.
Really looking forward to the final. The Glorious Gold Coast for a stag that wkend. Home to Sydney for the game Sunday night. Booked the Monday off work. I will sign in to the giddy thread at some point.
I’d be surprised to see Lennon start in midfield. Was way off the pace against fermanagh. Our lack of options may force O Rourkes hand. We’ll struggle in the edge of our square. If Gallagher and Murphy alternate to good effect we’re fucked.
Talk of us pulling McManus out to the 40, a la James O Donaghue. We’d need a fit McGuinness for that.
Fairly sceptical of our chances at the minute. The match ups in our defence which worked so well in '13 do not appear to have a chance in 2 weeks. It’s comforting, however, that we have one of the game’s best tactical brains on the sideline.
14 days
I’d imagine the match ups will be along the lines of
Corey - Murphy
Walsh - McBrearty
F Kelly - McFadden
R Wylie - O’Reilly
O’Connell - R McHugh
Mone - Toye
Will be something like that. McBearty will skin Walshe from what I’ve seen so far. Kieran Duffy might come in to follow CMF in the full back line. Finty K hasn’t up to his usual standards this year.
Mone and O Connell will do their best work between the 40s. Interestingly Mone has his brother’s wedding on the Monday. It’ll be mayhem in Clontibret whatever the result.
A wedding on a Monday is absolutely unforgivable.
Arra he’s home from the states, and twas a handful trying to accommodate the football etc etc.
Sunday’s final is sold out. No more tickets will be going on sale at the usual outlets.
Are you going, pal?
I will be in attendance.
Yeah, I’m heading along. 2pm throw-in for the senior final.
An intriguing game. I think Monaghan will give them plenty of it. And them winning wouldn’t be a shock at all in my books. They are due a really big performance and I think mentally they are coming in just right, under the radar a bit.
Donegal are not too bad either in the sense that they were not that great the last day and should improve. They are showing signs that they may be even better than the McGuinness era but not totally consistently yet.
What’s the set up for the losers?
Savage weekend of football
The losers will play the one of Derry/Galway or Tyrone/Tipp in two weeks time. The team from the qualifiers will have all the momentum.
Tipp and Galway should emerge from that, toss of a coin there. I suspect Tipp would have learned a lot from last year and the 21 final.
The one form of a team Galwayay struggle with is Derry cos of their physicality but you would still think Galway are clearly the better football side.
Tipp should take care of Tyrone by around 4-5 points.
I expect Tyrone will come through quite handy against Tipp, with all due respect Tipp have done fuck all. Tyrone are a seasoned outfit and should be in the shakeup come August. Derry and Galway is much more difficult to call.
Cailean O’Boyle seems to be flying for Derry and they have an outstanding set of defenders so if they can get performances out of Bradley and Lynch I think they will progress.
Seasoned? What use is that to ya when your small and over reliant on a few players
You thought Armagh were contenders as well and Galway comfortably beat them.
I don’t think Galway comfortably beat them, they were the best team and deservedly won but I don’t think a team goes without a score in the last 23 minutes and cynically closes out the game if they are comfortable.
8 of the Tyrone team that starts were in the starting XV of an All Ireland semi-final two years ago. Tipperary have done nothing of note in recent year and Tyrone will quite rightly be going in as strong favourites for this one.
