2016 Allianz National Football League

Patrick Pearse would be so proud if he’d lived to see this.

It has the look of the Eucharistic Congress from 1932

It’s an embarrassing mess.

Very inclusive event. Even people from Carlow at it. First time since 1953 a Carlow team has been in Croke Park on league final day.

The GAA and 1916. Inextricably linked.

That was dire.

It’s easy to snipe from the cheap seats pal

True enough, mate.

Dublin are so far ahead of the rest, they’d beat them anywhere. The likes of Kerry, Mayo, Cork and the stronger northern teams have no hang ups playing in Croke Park. They’ll beat Dublin there when they’re strong enough. Dublin playing in Croke Park is a non-issue. Bar losing to Laois in Tullamore in 1981 and Kerry in a replay in Thurles in 2001, Dublin up until their last road trip to Longford in 2006 had a superb record outside of Croke Park.

Cluxton is a teacher. Cian o Sullivan, and bastick work in banks. Brogan is an accountant. Flynn works in the airport. Mcmenamen and mcmahon have their own businesses. Connolly is a sales rep. James.McCarthy is.a.rep.too. You’re just making stuff up here.k

FFS sake lads we’ve been through all of this a few times a year for the last three years. @bandage seeing as you have the itchy trigger finger today, could you ban the next lad who mentions either dublin not playing away from croke or them not having proper jobs? You d be doing us all a favour.

@gman can you deal with the dimensions piece here please?

Bandage doesn’t do cheap seats pal.

I was listening to Oisin McConville on Rte radio on my way home today and he was saying how Croke park is the biggest pitch in the country by some distance and that’s why Kieran Donaghy wouldn’t be able to last the game playing in the middle as the ground was so much bigger than what he normally plays on. I rolled my eyes so much I nearly crashed. No other pitch comes close to it in size he said.

He must’ve been thinking about the stands.

No, he made sure to emphasise the pitch dimensions as that was what would make Donaghy have to run about more.

were you driving back up from the wexford minors open top bus tour at the time?

but seriously what other pitches have the same dimensions as croker, didnt realise any were the same

Did I ever mention here what a cunt of a man Jarlath Burns is?

Anyway, ignoring your jibe…

I had cause to research pitch dimensions and gathered the above info. It is about 3 or 4 years since it was updated tho so there could be recent changes to it.

fair enough, but as you say without up to date verifiable data its all up in the air. my original point, that dublins advantage comes with the familiarity with the turf type, has been lost forever now
