He should have been happy to let one talkative Kerry hurler get a bit of deserved airtime so after years in the shadows
The key to long range shooting is having the right players taking the shots, for Galway that’s mainly Flynn, Mannion and Canning. The biggest challenge for Donoghue is coming up with a scoring strategy that works against a smothering defense like Waterford or Kilkenny in the AI final last year. Long range scoring has to part of it I think, and mixing up the attack. We have simply been too predictable which leads to long periods without scoring.
Don’t overlook the return of Niall Burke. He’s a serious option and was sorely missed last year.
And Cooney
IF we can keep the injuries at bay we should have a great year.
Good point made by @caoimhaoin above, Donoghue hasnt messed with the squad too much so hopefully the momentum of 2015 will not be lsot.
He is a very nice man indeed.
Might just be enough to push them on. Just a different approach sometimes (not that another approach is “wrong”) can make all the difference.
Still would be slightly more supportive of waterford doing it, simply cos they are waiting longer and i like their approach. But it would be good if Waterford or Galway won this year.
In galways favour for your no 1 is they don’t have dan shanahan.
Conor Cooney is injured again, no guarantee he’ll make a full recovery as it was a pretty serious injury.
Joe Cooney and Kevin Hynes will come back into the squad now also to offer more options.
Ah fuck sake what is it this time? He would start on any team on the country.
Hynes? What age is now? Thought they discarded him at full back too soon in typical Galway fashion but he has to be past it by now?
Hip injury.
Hynes will be hard pushed to make team but he deserves his shot at it. Not at full back though.
Very interesting team selected for Cork v Waterford this W/end- looks like Kingston is going v defensive- In order to stop Mcgraths Waterford knocking up a tally.- flip side-Kingston seems to be willing to leave the scoring to Horgan and Lehane(well capable of doing it,once they’re on song!)
Why not put some money on it with TFK betting, beautifulcity?
Anything on tonight?
Nope
how will laois go the weekend?
Shite
Wouldnt be confident. He’s rebuilding an entire team. Last week only one of 6 backs played championship last year, the midfield was completely new, and still no Keenan or Hyland, and Dwyer suspended. In previous years Cheddar had them raring for the league because the round robin started directly after it. They’re a bit off that this year. Offaly will be gunning for blood.
Ye’ll surely still give those Biffos plenty of it though pal.
2A would be extremely grim, after tangible progress made under Chedder since that disaster against Cork a few years back.
It would, but he has to rebuild, has to be done sometime, and it cant be helped. Worst case scenario its a play off against Antrim I presume?
