2016 Allianz National Hurling League

As I said to Julio we were worried about this. It’s an incredibly raw Laois team which has lost an amount of leaders to retirement before Christmas. Plunkett is building a new team and are massively vulnerable. Kerry are a lovely team as well, Nolan is a class act. Laois will have it up their holes next Sunday in Tullamore

@bandage your man Cha was captain today and got a straight red again.

+1. No surprise to see the Westerners more accustomed to mullocking around in bad weather.

Fair play Fagan, should have bate em by more

I’m wounded and I was trying to be polite about Walsh Park so as not to hurt your feelings.

It’s always been the field of dreams for me.

Well done to Waterfoed today. Sticky conditions for both teams but no excuses. The Deise laying down a marker for the rest of the contenders for Liam.

With the notable exception of Kerry and Galway, pal.

Whelan from Galway is going to be a real player

It was notable in the second half of the final last year that he continued to play well when others were wilting. Looks a great prospect alright.

Watched Galway v Cork there, Whelan led the Cork full backline a merry dance. McDonnell in particular.

A top, top player in the making.

The only danger is him getting too big, I saw him play Fitzgibbon last week he is gone strong as an ox and a bit unnatural for a lad that age.

The worry last year was Whelan was too light, no harm that he has bulked up a bit. That point today from the tightest of angles was sublime.

When Kilkenny have to start someone like Mark Kelly even they are stretched for players, he must be the worst they have had to use in years.
