How does the nepotism sit in kilkenny? he drove some amount of ball to no one there. The galway game was a farce it was so loose, wides from every angle but a few good performances i suppose. Whelan is already a class act, we need a few to join him and today didnât tell much.
I heard a piece on the Last Word last Wednesday that consisted of Ewan something or other and Some Other Journalist discuss the merits of Dublin receiving a shit load of money from the GAA among other sources.
One of them tried to say but at least Dublin play by the rules and donât pay for managers like many other counties. Clearly he must think that Dalo was in it for the love of the game.
Just wanted to flag that lads.
Duly noted
Jonjo Farrell is worse.
Watched it this morning. I thought Niall Burke was by far our best player. Whelan didnt get a sniff in the first half but came into the game nicely in the second half. He has a great ability to win balls he has absolutly no right to win, its a strange technique but it works well.
Padraig Mannion had a great game as had David Burke.
Lovley to see Glennon back in the the thick of it.
Weekend highlights on TG4 now.
TG4 are keeping the GAA alive.
The lads doing the Limerick Wexford game had a fairly easy go of things.
That second half Whelan point for Galway yesterday where he sliced across the ball to fade it over off his left from the left was outrageously good.
Chaps, has there been a change to the advantage rule in hurling? Or was the change last year? Or was there a change at all? My memoryâs gone crap.
I used to get annoyed when referees played shit advantages in hurling. Theyâd allow a defender maul the fuck out of a forward before giving him the advantage even though heâs off balance and he scutters the shot wide. I used to be there âgive him the fucking free - thatâs not advantageâ.
But that turnip Diarmuid Kirwan was doing rugby football style advantages in the Gaelic Grounds the other night. Is it the same 5-second rule as football now? So you can get the advantage, fuck it up and then get the free anyway. He played a couple of really long advantages in the first half. On one occasion Byrnes was fouled on his own 65, Kirwan raised his hand for the advantage, Byrnes continued on a solo run, through another half assed tackled and didnât strike it wide until close to the Wexford 45. Kirwan gave the free back in the Limerick half. It probably was 5 seconds or so but it doesnât sit right with me. I think there can be a better balance to it.
The debate on him now seems to be whether he is too light or too bulked up. Someone was arguing over in the Galway forum that he is too light, ffs yesterday he looked about twice the size of last year. Some of that is age but it didnât seem to slow him down much.
+1
He hasnât got much bigger to be honest. More natural growth than weights.
Sweep sweep
It may or may not have been mentioned, but youâd hardly know Galway had changed managers
Kerry hurlers and management have initiated a âmedia banâ according to Woolie who is seething over it on twitter. What is the background to this? Seems bizarre for Kerry, being nobodies in the hurling world, to take this stance and bring presumably negative attention on themselves.
Is that a compliment or not?
Ask Woolie if he ever asked for an interview before when hurling in the county needed the exposure?
No?
Then fuck off
Could they not just have said no? Why a media ban?
Fuck off Woolie
