Off the posts lads - fine, fine margins.

Sometimes it’s just fate.

Or a curse

I dont think anyone is saying it was a gimmee. He had a gimmee in the first half and missed that one though. But for Mayo to make this breakthrough, its those sort of frees you have to nail. It may sound simplistic to say there was 6 minutes on injury time left and Rocks was a at the end, but O Connor had the chance to put Mayo in front. They did not get another shooting chance again. At that level, absolutely, you should have a free taker who will hit those frees. As Kev said, no one was surprised that he missed. If Rock was hitting that same free (and off the ground too I might add) I would have been surprised if he missed.

Not half way

Not an easy free.

Rock took 90 seconds. In front of the goal. And most likely going to be the last kick of the game. A shot to nothing.

Rock’s wasnt easy, but it was easier that COC’s. You viewed them both as similar. They weren’t.

A fart could have sent it in off the post. Such is sport.

Should he have scored it?

Does anyone know how long Rock took before shooting? Maybe that will explain everything.

I just want to clarify that you don’t believe they were of similar ease? That they were two entirely differing situations. It didn’t seem like this from your initial post?

Both were frees that should be scored. Rock did, Cock didn’t

Is this in reference to my post? If it is, I’d like to clarify for your benefit. I brought it up in reference to @Julio_Geordio mentioning the referee adding time on to give Mayo a shot to equalise. You could also say he added on 2 minutes due to the fuckacting and the time taken in taking the free. I have already said I don’t blame Rock for taking that time.

Ah, so you’re not going to clarify. Thats fair enough.

No but there’s a GPS tracker that could tell us exactly where it was taken from

I don’t think anything could be clearer.

Very clear.

This is specious reasoning. Take the game on its merits yesterday. Did the ref influence the outcome? To any objective observer, yes, absolutely.

My problem lads then saying it was within mayor’s powers to win it and they should have taken it out of the refs hands. Are they expected to have to win a game by an additional 2,3,4 points or whatever amount you consider the ref influenced it? Bollox! In the same breath then Dublin are lauded as “great” without acknowledging that if a proper ref had made the correct big calls, it may have been a very different outcome.

The game wasn’t yesterday. Calm down before posting.

That may be overstating it but I don’t think you’re far wrong. Let’s say he had a clear 2 point impact.

If so, you cannot in any way say mayo are bottlers and all of a sudden Dublin are not quite so great.

id knock that over no bother

That’s a fair point.

You’re the greatest lost talent the GAA has had since 2 dozen pisshead Laois Minor Footballers.
