2017 All Ireland Senior Football Championship, Dublin's continued exploitation of its natural advantages

Presumably Dillon and Barry Moran will call it a day now, seen very little action this year and now both in their 30s. Maybe Cafferkey as well.

Apart from that Iā€™d expect the rest back next year.

Next year theyā€™ll have Clarke and Moran (34), Higgins (33), Boyle (32), Barrett and SOS (31) and Parsons (30). Thatā€™s nearly half a team over 30 if you use the same starting XV as yesterday. Thereā€™s a very short finite lifespan on this team. Itā€™s hard to see the likes of Higgins, Moran and Boyle having seasons like they did this year again and there doesnā€™t seem to be the players to come in.

Dublin have began phasing their 30+ out of the starting team. Brogan, Flynn, McMenamin and MacAuley all starting on the bench this year.

I thought Philly McMahon looked past it yesterday, Iā€™d say heā€™s the next one to be pushed further to the sidelines.

Does a Dublin season ticket not guarantee the option of buying an All Ireland Final ticket if they progress?

Mayo are eternal losers.

It does. Both Dublin and Mayo have waiting lists for season tickets tho so some may use that as an excuse.

It does, he is trying to make a snide pop

I havenā€™t read the thread from yesterday so maybe this has been discussed but I canā€™t understand why COC didnā€™t put that ball down on the ground to kick it, I know he occasionally has a poor strike off the ground but the margin for error is much less.

Margin for error being less? Its not like he drove it 50 feet wide, he hit the fucking post, a fart of wind would have been enough to influence it.

He should have scored it whichever way. It was on the 21, 15/20 yards in. Any half decent free taker would knock it over. He missed a handy one 30 yards out fairly central too in the first half. Not a good free taker. And I may be old school, but I far prefer a free being struck off the ground than out of the hands.

Where does yesterday rank in terms of great finals, chaps? It had some mistakes and bad shooting but was full of quality, commitment, tension and bravery. It was absolutely gripping stuff. It lacked the fairytale ending for the perennial bridesmaids but I think it jumps ahead of Tyroneā€™s 2005 and 2008 victories as regards my enjoyment of a final Iā€™ve attended. It may be recency bias and I no longer have the photographic memory of my youth but it was truly epic. Elite football is vastly superior to what top level hurling has to offer and that was hammered home again yesterday in no uncertain terms. Unbelievable stuff. Iā€™m still heart sore for Mayo today, even though I picked up a little bit when I saw Dara Calleary at Gillā€™s corner after the game yesterday.

He normally takes them out of the hands.

No trophies alright mate but at least they gave it a right go. Tyrone took one look at Dublin and lay back and let their belly be tickled for 75 minutes.

It does mate

Wins are wins, mate.

Losses are losses at the end of the day.

Whether Tyrone are good enough is one thing but Mayo have shown they are and failed to complete the job. Time is rapidly running out.

It was a poor game full of mistakes and lacking in quality ā€” plenty of drama and physicality alright but there have been far better finals.

This Mayo side will go down as one of the greatest teams to ever play the game, and will be remembered fondly for decades to come.

His utter cuntery means his karma is fucked by the time he gets to 65 mins. He could shoot the thing with a cannon and it still wouldnā€™t go over.

No.

Real supporters can blag their way into an All-Ireland final for free if they donā€™t get a ticket.

Every All Ireland final is full of mistakes.

Yesterdayā€™s game was gripping. As good a final as i can remember.
