2017 All Ireland Senior Football Championship, Dublin's continued exploitation of its natural advantages

He could also carry ball .

He hasn’t been very effective over the course of five All-Ireland finals he’s played in. In fact for a player of such reputation he’s been very poor over the course of them.

Are this Dublin team on drugs?
O’Gara, ‘Philly’ and James McCarthy all guilty of eye gouging in the past 3 seasons but all let off for some reason. Why are they more than any other team losing control of themselves in the heat of battle, is it something in their system?

Blaney was as good a centre half forward as there has ever been. Had the lot in terms of running, passing, shooting, work rate, leadership ability.

I read a study on refereeing globally and the tendency across most sports is for referees to ease up on giving the handy ones as the game enters the crucial phases.

Hurling is reffed completely differently in September to April and that is referred to as a virtue including on here.

Only one team lost control on Sunday.

Dublin play with controlled aggression. They always try to do the right thing. Do they always do the right thing - no.

Ok bud - i’ll let that one slide so… tho my reply was more an attempt at the @Fagan_ODowd school of internetting more than anything.

I cannot remember every game in detail. But he gets soecial attention from the smart managers and top teams.

Ya they get scared.

Home town decision is a psychological thing as well. Plenty evidence to show it being hugely important.

By nature as humans we protect ourselves. Its nature to protect yourself and a ref does this by siding sometimes with the licals, even subconsciously

Yes it went into that as well and studies indicated that there was a noticeable home town effect particularly in rugby.

Blayney was the Fernando Redondo of GAA.

Best I’ve seen as a CHF.

He could in the earlier stages of his career but that ability declined after his injuries in 2006/07.

McGuigan has been pivotal to three All-Ireland final wins - his performance in 2005 was outstanding, maybe the best centre half forward performance ever in a final, and he was very important in 2003 despite playing with flu and in 2008 when he was a very calming presence in the last 20 minutes as a substitute.

One of his points in the 2005 final was special - it was a much better version of Con O’Callaghan’s jink for a point in the recent Dublin-Tyrone semi-final.

He might have done since 2015 but he’s been fairly easily nullified every time when he has.

Didn’t one of the Celtic team who won the European Cup practice as a dentist ?

Paul Kimmage has been lamenting their cynical play dragging down Mayo players after Rock’s free.

There could be more in this.

Jim Craig. I think he was a dentist for many years after retiring. Was a regular on Celtic TV co-commentary duty for many years before stepping back in the last year or two.
