He was inmovative way back, but he finds it hard to move on i would suggest, Harte that is. He found a formula that worked but it always took failure for it to be tweaked. Gavin for instance does not wait for that.
Have you seen Kerrys forward play this year. Its all close in hand off play with quick hands to creat easy shots. And maybe goals. They score in batches and demoralize teams.
Mayo disrupted that. Kerry had to work alot more for scores. Mayo are more conditioned. If Kerry have to work alot harder for scores its advantage Mayo
If Mayo wanted to negate the high ball, it worked. Donaghy didn’t get a high ball on the edge of the square. I suspect thats all they were hoping for given the destruction its wrought in the past.
Tomorrow will be fascinating. This weekend will be fascinating. Its been a great few weeks for fans of the GAA.
I understand Kerry had one of their worst performances in a long time and still scored 2-14 and but for a great save it should have been 3 goals - Donaghy was instrumental for about 2-5 …
But yeah, no high balls were hit in — Well done Rochford. Unreal.
There’s more to scoring than just a high ball ---- Would Dublin or Tyrone bring their talisman back to do the same? I think they’d let their defenders defend … but maybe I have it all wrong.
Of course there is. But high balls have done for Mayo in the past and they decided to try take it out of the equation. I’d have brought back Seamie O Shea myself, but I suspect AOS is such a strong character and individual that he was happy to take the hit for his team.
Surely Mayo’s talisman, if they have one, given their wonderful team attitude, is their Player of the Year Leeroy Keegan btw?
Well pointed out, old chum. Plenty of mentions on TFK this week about Aidan O’Shea being Mayo’s talisman when he’s not.
Shame tomorrow’s replay is clashing with the top of the table SPFL clash. I’ll aim to catch up on Mayo-Kerry by Sunday lunchtime ahead of heading into Croker for Dublin-Tyrone.
Plus he’s a bit of a donkey. Actually, maybe thats why they didn’t want to risk him back there. You have to say, Mayo’s use of their resources year in, year out is a credit to them. Also, Stephen Rochford is a ballsy guy, he doesn’t die wondering.
Ya, i completely agree. AOS very often overplays the ball at midfield or centre forward and slows Mayos attacks.
This shit about him being the tallisman is nonsense.
Mayos attacking platform is Boyle, Keegan, Higgins, McLoughlin. Moran, COC and now Doherty are their go to men.
Its crept up on us, but Mayo now have a very good forward line. And while he obviously does some good stuff (usually at no.14) AOS is not central to it.
What they are losing is his work rate atound the middle and in a big man thats worth a fortune. Thats the Peter they robbed.
