2018 All Ireland Senior Football Championship

The only issue with the Super 8s is playing the neutral games in Croke Park

I think Kildare will give them.plenty of it.

Monaghan-Galway is hard to call

Monaghan are a disaster though. Headless

They’ve won the All-Ireland before after being in tight situations like that. Sligo missing a penalty in 2009 springs to mind. Logically, Dublin should have enough to beat them, especially as Dublin can rest players against Roscommon, but my feeling is that there’s something a bit off about Dublin this year and I wouldn’t fully trust them against a potentially revitalised Kerry team who have somehow wriggled off the hook.

Galway would be better off lose to Monaghan and get Dublin in a semi final. Also a bonus of burying Kerry.

Also nice to see the competition come alive with games outside Croke Park, who’d a thunk it.

I’d give Monaghan a great chance in Salthill.

There was a similar situation in limerick a few years back. Doom through a game v ballybrown and knocked out nap. Doon then lost their semi final.

I’d rather Dublin in a final. This Dublin team have never performed that well in an All Ireland

Dublin have won all five All Ireland finals they’ve appeared in this decade. Dublin’s three championship exits this decade were all in the semi final.

They’ve never performed that well in a final though. Two of those semi final exits were before they started dominating

Any All Ireland Final you win, you’ve performed well in. 5 from 5 wins in 7 seasons not to be sniffed at.

Well obviously they’re a great team, they’ve never shown their best in an All Ireland though

mark of great team, racking up Celtic crosses despite playing below par

Picking up Celtic crosses playing above par would be an even greater indicator of a great team

No it wouldn’t actually

Few teams rarely play in finals…

That makes no sense whatsoever

He’s had some poxy run of luck over his tenure.

Today was reminiscent of the drawn semi-final against Mayo in 2014, and again it was Donaghy who did the business for him.

They were poxed in the replay and the final too.

Same against Tyrone in 2015 and Cork in the drawn Munster final in 2015.

Regular gimme quarter-final draws. Cavan, Galway, Kildare, Clare.

They got a lucky sequence of results on the last day of the 2017 league to qualify for the final.

Even when Kerry got the goal today, Monaghan made an absolute mess of an easy opportunity to go in front again.

I hope Galway v Monaghan is close and the teams play out a draw as payback for all Fitzmaurice’s run of good fortune.

It does, playing above your level means you probably got a bit lucky on the day. if you played at or below your level that day, you could well have lost
Playing below your level, and still winning, shows how good you really are.
