Mate, people in Leinster have been giving out about this for years. There was a point there, when only one of the Dublin side had ever played a Championship match outside Croke Park. Bernard Brogan and MDMA won Football of the Year awards despite never kicking a ball outside their home ground. Farcical stuff. People wanted them out of Croke Park, if even for one game in the Leinster campaign.
And finally, finally the Leinster Council relented, primarily because no one was fucking going to the first round games anyway.
But, but, even when they did, they still refused to give home advantage to the other county.
So dont tell me this sense of outrage is only coming out now.
from my own point of view, I wouldnt necessarily be outraged. It is what it is, but Iâve long argued that there is no need for Dublin games, particularly Leinster championship games pre final to be on in Croke Park. Many others in Leinster counties have too. Maybe its only spotted now because its Donegal wanting the change, but its long been happening since they stopped provincial games with Dublin outside of croke Park.
The Dubs have a massive following, the least the association could do pre Semi & Final games in Leinster is send the cunts on the road.
The crowd theyâd have travelling to Navan, Carlow or Portlaoise would be a massive boost for the townâs & promotion of the game in those Counties too.
Dublin supporters have never argued with that, they generally would actively support such a move because the Croke Park match experience, especially with Dublin being so dominant, has become extremely stale.
But the other Leinster counties are the people who keep telling Dublin to play in Croke Park.
As regards the Super 8, the venue situation was something that was specifically voted on at Congress, and what Donegal are complaining about is totally different to what Kildare were complaining about. Kildare were obviously in the right, Donegal are complaining about something which was specifically voted in, and havenât a leg to stand on.
If Congress wants to amend the venue situation for next year and replace the words âCroke Parkâ from the relevant passage about the Super 8 with words âneutral venueâ, I have no problem with that, and would have no problem with Dublin playing another provincial champion in Thurles or Clones in 2019.
I never said Dublin or its supporters did argue that, in fact Iâve pretty much always levelled my complaint straight at Leinster council and the GAA. Although I do not agree with this thing of âthe other counties voted it inâ. Counties didnt get a vote on this in years gone by, fixtures were set and that was it. and then when it finally was voted upon, most were told theyâd lose money if they voted against it so obviously just went with it. It was only recently then they got some backbone and realised it didnt have to be that way, although the most of them are still spineless cunts afraid to upset the hand that feeds them.
Donegal werent going to complain about wording last year, sure they werent even guaranteed to be where they were. It was probably something thrown in that didnt affect anyone until they were in that position. Again, as above, it should have been spotted by the GAA, but it probably was and they were happy enough for it to slide through unnoticed or unchallenged.
Dublin are so good at the moment that the venue is fairly immaterial for the vast majority of their matches - they could play anywhere and theyâd still blitz everyone bar Kerry, Mayo and one or two others.
Croke Park is their home ground for the Dublin footballers. Parnell Park is the home ground for the Dublin hurlers. Dublin getting two of their three Super 8 matches at Croke Park while everyone else only gets one there is, well, clearly unfair. Donegal and the winners of Armagh/Roscommon are perfectly entitled to raise it now as it directly affects them and the overall group stage dynamic on that side of the draw. One team is getting an advantage over the other three. Saying âwell, it was voted in at Congress months agoâ doesnât really cut it.
Nearly all the Dub supporters would prefer a day out or weekend away in Clones/Salthill anyway rather than trundling along to Croke Park to dismantle yet another also run in a dismal atmosphere.
O Moore Park is grand mate, good soil is the key. A great grounds man like The Rat Mc is also a bonus. A triple header this weekend, where would you get it I ask ya.
They play off 2 shit pitches in tymon north and share a small all weather pitch there with a soccer team You said most counties could only dream of their facilities which was obviously a crock of shit
Thatâs pitch 4 in Tymon which is a public park champ. Faughs play on pitch 1 and 2 in Tymon. They have access to juvenile pitches in local schools but the only adult pitches they use are crap ones in tymon park.
