2020 All Ireland Senior Football Championship.Blame the dubs

Don’t think that’s right, same pairings as 2017.

Disappointed there is no open draw.

Sure didn’t Mayo walk all over the Ulster champions last year on route to another semi-final. Had Galway got Ulster in this year’s semi final it would have been a lovely breather between 2 huge games. As it is, winning division 1 and Connacht would be a very successful year, anything else would be a huge achievement for them.

The Leinster championship is a mouthwatering prospect

Donegal had big injury problems on the day. Galway were trounced by Mayo too.

Always a ready-made excuse for the Ulster teams, the reality is the game has slipped back a very long way up here sadly.
Galway were indeed well beaten by Mayo last year, anything can happen in a game between 2 traditional powerhouses which is why I am sure you will agree a Connacht title and division 1 title would be a hugely successful year.

Excuse my ignorance, are the qualifiers running this year?

Nope.

Galway get into the last 8 by beating a Div 4 team they have beaten by 13 and 21 points in the past two seasons.

Donegal and Tyrone have to navigate each other, Armagh and then Monaghan to get to the same stage and @Halfpipe is shitting his pants that Galway will fail at the first serious hurdle of their golden ticket.

Wouldn’t be like the Nordies getting their excuses ready, trying to shift the pressure on other counties. Better off focusing on themselves

Sure Galway would love to have a few handy games like that to get the eye in before taking on the big guns. They have Mayo and Dublin to overcome to win the league title, then Sligo, Mayo, Kerry and Dublin to win Sam. Not much room there to have an off-day or to try different tactics, it’s pedal to the metal the whole way. A game against a rabble managed by Kieran McGeeney or Banty would be great to relieve the pressure but no such luck for PJ.

In an All Ireland quarter final by virtue of beating a Div 4 team they’ve hammered the past two years.

You seem to be shitting being given the Golden ticket.

It’s hardly shifting the pressure now, unfortunately Ulster are currently an irrelevance when discussing the big prizes.

Three different Ulster counties have shared 5 All Irelands since a Connacht side last won the “big prize”.

And none have come within an asses roar of an All-Ireland since 2014. Underage, senior club and senior intercounty, Ulster have generally been miles off the pace over the last 5 years and until some new ‘tactical genius’ emerges who can devise a new system to hide the skill deficit in the province there is unlikely to be much national silverware for the 9 counties.

That’s just the way it’s gone

An Ulster team has made it closer than a Connacht team in the past couple of seasons.

You erred when you brought the big prize into it and Connacht football.

Galway haven’t won a knockout Championship game at Croke Park in nearly 20 years. Professional tog shitters.

Who was that, are you going to give me a laugh and say Tyrone in 2018?

Exactly, so suggesting that they should pack it in if they don’t win Sam this year seems to be an awfully bizarre view to take. League and provincial champions would be a huge achievement. If they get to Croke Park the neutrals will certainly be behind them as they will be playing football the right way, you never know what a bit of momentum might do for them.

I was looking at the super 8s had paired Ulster/Leinster and Connacht/Munster in 2018 and Connacht/Leinster and Ulster/Munster last year.

I’d have thought they’d have had Leinster vs Munster and Ulster vs Connacht semi finals this year but looks like they have gone back to 2017 alright.

There was a reason for doing that in 2018, by putting the semifinal pairings from the previous year in together it meant the traditional semi-final rotation could still potentially happen. The same last year as well.
