Did Mayo have a plan to contain Dublin in the first half and bring on a bit of pace in the second and press up on Dublin or did it just happen like that ? Mayo had two bad AoS wides in the first half and missed a 13m free so it should have been closer at half time. If they were only a point or two down at half time would they have had the balls to go after Dublin the way they did when the game looked dead and buried?

The Connacht final wasn’t dissimilar tbh.

Hard to see, to my mind, how Kerry are 1/2 for Sam. Granted they have a couple of rattling good forwards but once O’Hora strangled Kilkenny the zip and structure deserted the vaunted Dublin attack. The Kerry midfield aren’t world beaters and their backs are barely fit to tackle their dinners.
The Rhubarbs will have discovered a lot about themselves this evening, unity of purpose and their indefatigable attitude will be buoyed by this result and the embers they created it from.

Ultimately it’s about players and now we’ll look back and give credit to a golden generation of players who won six in a row and that time eventually caught up on.

Ye aren’t dead yet. That Dublin team would still start as favourites against anyone pretty much. Still rammed full of talent. I wonder if in some way they just weren’t/aren’t bored/stale.

Dublin had no goal chances really. They’d barely any in the leinster final.

They had a couple but went for the fisted point.
That was a compelling spectacle, but hard to make sense of.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the football they played bored even themselves. There seemed to be no joy in it. Players walking away in their prime having had enough of it.
